Hi,
I am 29 years old (just), my pain started three years ago when I was 6 weeks pregnant (miscarried a week later), it has only got worse since and my doctor is about as much use as a chocolate coffee pot! They keep saying IBS so thank you to the last genius who suggested IBS, IT IS NOT IBS!!!! My doctor has so far done bloods (god knows what for), upper abdominal ultrasound and gastroscopy and colonoscopy, they also tested for lactose and gluten allergy - which I assured them it would be none of....funny enough, the tests all came back negative. They are now sending me for a CT - just to shut me up I think but I cannot seem to get it across to them how miserable this is making me and how painful it is.
Sometimes I wake up in pain and other times I wake up and feel fine for about 5 minutes then it gets progressively worse. It also gets worse if I walk, carry anything (whether heavy or not) and generally just move. Dont get me wrong I've never been a gym bunny but have always had active jobs that involve heavy lifting/physical exertion and now I feel pathetic.
I have been prescribed about 10 different meds for IBS and various other things and nothing works. I wondered if any of you also get a burning sensation (and I don't mean heartburn I mean like actual heat) seems like its burning from the inside out and I get a fever all over and it gives me an upset stomach and I feel light headed. This nasty bit is only very rare though and might not be related but the heat seems to come from the painful area.
Anyway, now I have got that off my chest I am going to patiently sit and wait for my CT appointment to drop into the mail box (apparently it will be within the next 2 weeks). Wish me luck and will let you know if I find anything out.
PS: if this helps.... If I lie down flat on my back for about 10 hours the pain seems to ease off but this is not realistic as I work 12 hour days and hate staring at the ceiling!

I'm 19, female, having the same issue. My stomach pain isn't as severe, though. It's when the area right under my ribs (middle or to the right) is touched but, it has some severe spikes. The main bit is the constant nausea which has been just laying me out. Missed two weeks of school due to it. There's also a bad headache that ends to accompany it and an overwhelming fatigue.
I went to an Urgent Care and, first, they somehow diagnosed me with Pneumonia and threw some Azithromin and light nausea pills at me. Surprise, surprise, neither did anything.
Went back a week later, they were stumped, threw me into the hospital. Turns out, hospital didn't know, either.

Hey EVERYONE, I'm a 22 year old male with a left upper abdominal pain. First I just thought I moved it out of place or something from working out, but the pain has been there for months now(only if I press it). From reading these comments, I believe that this pain has to do with my eating habits. I eat lots of carbs and calories because I have been trying to gain some weight. Any ideas on what could be the problem?!?!

Ok i just read through all these post starting from the top, because i am 20 and have a lot of the same symptoms, HOWEVER, i do have an interesting contribution that might be of help to some of you. I used to get the same exact awful stomach pain that everyone here has described, and i had the same experiences with doctors that didn't know what it was. I went through all the tests, and i even had several inconclusive visits to the emergency room. Finally, my second time in the hospital, they decided to do a CT scan, and they noticed what they thought was slight inflammation of my appendix. I was in so much pain and so desperate they decided they might as well schedule an emergency appendectomy. Low and behold, when they did the pathology report afterwards they discovered that I had acute appendicitis. This had been going on for 4 years without it ever bursting or anything. So since then, i haven't had the terrible stomach aches anymore which is wonderful, but i still have something else that I was wondering if anyone had any insight on:
The top of my stomach, right above my belly button sticks out significantly more than the rest of my stomach. It makes me incredibly nauseous to press on it, and i do have a lot of gas and sensitivity to foods, although i have had a really hard time detecting which foods make me gassy or nauseous. Anyway, I'm mostly just really tired of not wearing tight clothing because of how much my stomach sticks out, so if anyone has any input or suggestions, i would really appreciate it!
