I had hysterectomy done two months ago for I was diagnosed with cervix cancer. I’ve passed through radiotherapy and have urination problem following radiotherapy. It’s that I cannot control my urinate needs. So I’d like to hear is this going to last forever or what?
Hi there? I once had exactly the same problem which is urination problems following radiotherapy for I was diagnosed of some other type of a cancer but anyway radiotherapy affects at first place the rectum, bladder and urethra and very often it affects sexual function also. Anyway don’t’ get upset over this much for this urination problem you have usually is not that severe and in my cases it haven’t lasted more than a few weeks. This urination problem is caused by the toxicity that is common after radiotherapy treatment but in most cases those are defined as “acute” radiotherapy side effects and they don’t last longer than a few weeks up to six months and are usually manifested in increased urinate urgency, and when urinate it is common stinging or slow weak flow. And all of these difficulties you may discuss with your doc and on your request you may weakened them by using medication which I did.
I am 38 and was diagnosed with cervix ca in 2005. I had radiotherapy and now 2,5 years later my uretha is sticked together. I actually got some pain last august but beside that did not have any problem urinating. During my 6 months controls they saw it on the MR and now they have put a stent in. I would like to know anybody else with the same problem and if I have to change this stent every 3 months for the rest of my live?
Is frequent urination just a side effect of radiotherapy? I cannot hold my urine now.
