I'm a 41 year old male, I've been having a problem with urinary frequency. I've had this problem for several months now, but lately I have noticed I need to urinate at least 8 to 10 times a day during the day, sometimes after I urinate I feel the need to go again, I try to go again but it's just the feelig, and I only urinate very little the 2nd time, however I do not have any pain, or any other symptoms, the only thing I feel is that all of a sudden I have this urgency to urinate, at night I have to get up 2 or 3 times during an 8 hr period. The urine is a normal color and no uggly oddor. I hope you can help me, Thank You!
Hello there! It is obvious something’s going on in your urinary tract and the only way to get rid of this frequent urination urge is to treat an underlying condition, meaning seeing an urologist.
There could be a couple of reasons for this disorder. One of them are diuretics, medications for controlling high blood pressure and treating edema (swelling). You didn’t report taking any medications but if you are, this could be the cause.
Another possible cause could be urinary tract infection. They are more common in women then in men because their bladders are closer to the surface, so it is easier for bacteria to get in. However, this doesn’t make men resistant to bacterial infection. Most of the bacteria get in from gastrointestinal tract but sometimes you may suffer from sexually transmitted organisms. Anyway, most of the bacterial infections would also cause burning sensations during urination or pain, but not necessarily.
I reckon you should have it checked, so that infection would progress to the kidneys when you would be in a lot of trouble.
Prostate problems, especially enlargement or prostatitis (inflammation), could also make your life miserable with similar symptoms and you better have that checked out considering you are approaching to the age prone to prostate infections.
Diabetes patients also have urinary problems, so I wouldn’t be postponing doctor’s visit anymore.
Sometimes too much liquids during the day can cause frequent urination but not that frequent.
