Four months ago I was diagnosed with a rare type of anemia that affects your blood counts immensely. I have been on treatment for almost 4 months now but before I went into hospital I had excessive blood clots passing through me 3 big handful of clots it was a size of my palm a day and medium sized ones too. Heavy periods definitely require attention quickly if it is affecting you, especially if you're experiencing symptoms like fatigue, increased sleepiness and loss of appetite. It's better to figure it out quicker than later. It may be a form of anemia or a problem with your uterus. I have just left the hospital after staying there for months and even though I'm taking about 4 different pills to stop my period, it doesn't work and I'm worried because my condition is life threatening. I've been passing heaps of clots lately that look like livers and have excruciating pain in my stomach, like huge cramps and paradox isn't helping at all so I'm taking a stronger pill. I'm also talking to a specialist, you should definitely seek advice from a gynecologist like I am because they can definitely help. Don't just take the word from your gp because they can often get things wrong and you know your body best. Hope this helped
