I've read through a great deal of the posts now and I have a fair idea of the cause. The treatment will depend on individual needs however some basic logic should help. Let me assure you though that as you get older and more mature you will notice changes in your body. Depending on your individual physical development and also the age you begin your intimate life, these changes will generally occur between early teens to late twenties. The thick white, bitter discharge aforementioned is a part of your vaginas bacterial defense and lubrication. In a perfectly healthy vagina the thickness, colour, odour and flavor (yes, flabour) will vary within your cycle , with certain medications, with stress, diet, exercise, and weather. If something is imbalancing your ph or your natural flora (good vs bad bacteria) then you will see changes. The biggest thing to do is to make sure you don't have an allergy to any product your using (even washing powder or liquid, shampoo, scented toilet paper, lube) always choose the natural alternatives (preferably sls free soaps). Also please be careful with home remedies such as the garlic and peroxide (and be very sparing with antibiotics)... You need to remember that although this may work short term and kill all of the BAD bacteria, it may also affect the GOOD bacteria, which you need. Probiotics may help, but this is trail and error, it won't work for everyone. Make sure yourself and your partners private areas are clean before sex but RINSE THOROUGHLY as even small traces of chicles can disrupt your flora (likewise unwashed privates will harbor bacteria and bacteria "food") Finally one last word of advice, and this us for all of your medical issues from migraines to energy levels: DRINK LOTS OF GOOD QUALITY WATER (around 2 liters a day).

Hi guys, so I don't have the condition that you all describe, but i do know a way to stay lubricated. It may however be necessary for your sex partner to use a condom because this method could sting him. There is a yeast infection suppository that contains tea tree oil, called Tea Tree Therapy. It may feel a little harsh the first time you use it, but as you build a tolerance it actually feels AMAZING during sex because it gives you this kind of, hot and cold sensation, and the oil stays in there for quite some time. So i'm pretty sure that this would work as a lubricant for all of you. It may also thin your symptoms. Good luck!!

Am so glad I came across this and know that we are not alone. I had struggled with this since I was 17 and now going on 30, my symptoms were not as bad as yours, I did have the smelly odor and every now and then the nasty discharge, finally I did my research and found the following...Take the Probiotic Acidophilus for 30 days once a day, also I found out we need Folic Acid so I take the 800 mcg, I eat those Yoplait yogurts (3-4 a day) to increase the good bacteria in the vaginal area. I bought also Tea Tree oil and what I did was get a q-tip soaked it with water (you have to dilute) and then put one or 2 drops on the tip, then placed it inside vagina to reduce the smell and start treating it.  Before I started I got those in home test(vagisil screen kit) to see how bad I really was and also to see if what I was about to do worked...Anyway it was bad lol, it was a 5.5 I think, so I treating myself with the above mentioned, I also purchased the waterworks shower douche, you should look it up it's great! I did the tea tree oil 2 a day for 7 days along with the vitamins and eating my yogurts hoping and praying it would work, after 3 days my smell and discharge were gone, I could not believe it!!! I was so happy!! even my husband said wow no smell lol he noticed the difference!!! after almost 2 weeks we tried oral sex after so long, but he said their was still an acid taste, he said if we can get rid of that I'd be perfect because their no longer was a smell yay!! so I did more research and found the following...eat pineapple (as much as you can) in the morning or drink lots of cranberry juice, it will give your vajayjay a sweet taste instead of acid. Am so happy and everyday when I go to the bathroom I check myself because I still can't believe it!!! I know every situation is different but this helped me and hopefully it will help others. I usually don't post to anything but I know how hard it is for us women that struggle with this so I hope this helps you guys as it did for me!!

I've also had this problem for 10+ years. It started with a yeast infection and never went away. There's nothing I haven't tried to get rid of this thing and I had already given up when I decided to google it once more. That's when I came across this forum. I just got off the phone to make an appointment with my gyno to test for mycoplasma. I'm hoping this is finally the end to my suffering. I promise to update you girls with my results. In the meantime- hang in there!

Ok...so I visited another gyno...she seemed very kind and interested in "fixing me" :) I don't have mycoplasma either....she thinks it's a ph problem....she gave me a vaginal time released Vitamin C tablet 250 mg to insert each night for 6 days to reset my vaginal ph. (she prescribed it but apparently you can ask your pharmacist...it's not necessary to have a rx) I just finished the 6th night. I've been drinking tonnes of water like another person advised. I will update my progress. Today feels a bit more normal...but too early to know.

i am in the same boat as every one else. the same story over and over again.

i have an Answer.

firstly, all contraception has given me this effect. i have tried them ALL, anything that interferes with the bodies hormones is going to be troublesome. latex condoms are completely out of the question for me as well. i use sheep skin condoms, and advise this to any one who doesn't want to be on hormonal contraception and cant use latex condoms.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY

i eat at least one cup of yoghurt every single day. good quality, not too sugary and not a big commercial brand that makes it taste like ice-cream. Choose one that is high is acidophilus etc and as natural as you can get it.

it is really bothersome and at times horrible to eat so much yogurt but it is the only thing i have found works. but it is only temporary. you have to keep it up, if you miss a day or two the symptoms will return.

it really makes me angry that doctors consistently tell people this is 'normal'. If it impinges on a woman's ability to have sex and enjoy it, it is a HUGE problem that is not normal at all.

i hope i can be of help, make sure you choose a really good quality yoghurt, that is of extreme importance.

Hi Jenna, I don't mean to disagree with you or anything, but you CANNOT use oil with a condom. Oil breaks down the condom really quickly. You can test this out at home, just take a condom and place it on your hand, and swirl it in a bowl that has baby oil in it... it will break the condom within minutes, maybe even seconds from when it touches the oil !

Im 18 and ever since i lost my V back in september this has happened! It was a sudden change and ive been to the doctors and feel like i live there because they prescribed me everything under the sun for thrush before doing a swab, they then put my on metronidazole (assuming thinking i had BV as i said there was a smell) but bitter is rthe exact perfect way to describe the taste...the tests all came back 'normall' which upset me so much because it obviously isn't! they didnt test for bv but the mzl had little/no effect so im assuming its not that, its also thick white and creamy. I cannot stay wet during sex and also i started seeing a new guy now and am literally too embarassed to let him touch me or anything and its upsetting me too much. Im so fed up of being told im normal and cant believe its not recognised by doctors if obviously so many women suffer with it?! (just look here!) Im guna try thr garlic thing right now as anything to make me feel better is welcomed. Whats the most popular treatment you guys believed to have worked? Any other suggestions what i should ask my doc to test for? ill being referred toa gyn help more? Serously just want to be 'normal' because this is NOT attractive and highly embarassing
