HI there,

So I am 21 and I have had these symptoms for as long as i can remember:

1)ALOT of milky discharge that dries yellow on panties

2)Vaginal Dryness (Lube doesnt help) for this I give my bf a blowjob til my saliva gets "slimy" then its super easy for him to get it in.

3) A strong bitter taste and smell when I have sex.

4) Pain when I have my legs on his shoulders during sex.

5) A pink spotting a day before my period

6) the white stuff on my bf's penis after sex that dries up n flakes off. Also, the rolled up little flakes that are on the sheets afterwards.

I have had a miscarriage in July 2009 but these symptoms I have had for as long as I can remember. ( I think this caused the miscarriage). I have also been trying to get pregnant for the past 9 months but no deeeaal!

I have been two 3 different Dr's and one Gyno on to my next one in Dec (long time to wait so I decided to do some research on it so I have a Better understanding of what I am dealing with); everything has come back clean and the Dr's said I am 'Normal" [WTF?!?]

I have also gone to the Natural Foods Store and Spoke with one of their health care practitioners about me trying to conceive and he suggested me taking maca pills. They're for enhancing libido and sexual function, increasing energy and endurance, balances hormones, and many more benefits. He said the vaginal dryness was because my hormones were out of balance. He suggested I take 2 pills for 3 days, 4 pills for another three days and then 6 pills for another 3 days then about 4 pills everyday after that. I am on day 5 right now so I took 4 pills.

I had also went with the cytolytic vaginosis theory and douched with baking soda. I am no longer bitter and the smell is not strong. I like it now but I will see if it syticks around. If not, looks like I will be investing in some preseed and doing it that way.

Will update as much as possible for how effective these treatments are.

Thanks for reading :)

I've had this problem for about 5 months now, I don't know if it has anything to do with birth control or not but I did take it for a couple months Buti seriously don't remember if my problems started right after I stopped taking them or not. I was on loestrin. I've been with the same person for a while now, I'm not sure if I'm "allergic" to his sperm or not, it could be a possibility I guess since we really don't use protection that much anymore. This is somebody I plan on being with for the rest of my life but I'm really worried about this weird discharge that won't seem to go away for good. I tried to treat it as a yeast infection a couple of times and both times it really didn't do anything but cause irritation. I really don't have any itching or burning ever, and it doesn't discharge out, I can only scoop it out with my fingers in the shower, it's a mixture of really milky and sometimes it has thick white peices in it that looks like dead skin or something. It goes away sometimes for a few days but it always comes back, I really don't understand. Last week I thought it was gone for good, I actually got wet for the first time in a while and I had the clear stretchyness, but lastnight I noticed it came back again. I wonder if it has something to do with my diet, I eat alot of sweets and carbs I guess, I'm a college student I don't really have the time to make healthy meals I'm either working or at school, I'm constantly stressed out so I wonder if that might have to do with it but I don't know, this all doesn't make much sense to me, it makes me feel a little better that others are experiencing this as well but I really miss having a normal vagina :( I'm going to try taking a probiotic but I'm not sure which, if any of you have had success with it could you please let me know, I'm also going to try changing up my diet a bit and reducing my stress levels, I know doctors brush us off saying its normal and not caring because it isnt life threatening but honestly it's ruining my life because I'm always stressed an worried about something I never had to worry about so I don't understand how this can be normal, I don't know, just centig I guess, but somebody please help us all!!!

Hi Guest,

I honestly think you should try douching with baking soda! 2 tbsp in 4 cups of water. it has done wonders for me for the past 2 weeks. my vagina feels normal for the first time in forever!! Just give it a try to see if it helps. I did mine once every three days. Also, your cervical mucous varies throughout the month depending on your fertility. the day you got "wet" could have been you ovulation day sinc eyou said it came back again.

I am still a bit dry so I am going to try preseed soon. But the odor has gone away completely!!! and I feel pretty normal down there other than the dryness.

I think every female here that has been cleared of having any STD/infection for this particular problem needs to read up on: atrophic vaginitis.

Atrophic vaginitis is inflammation of the vagina due to thinning tissue and decreased lubrication. It is related to reduced estrogen levels.

While this is most common amongst post-menopausal women, it can occur in young females.

The white discharge is the vaginal lining, which has thinned and dried because estrogen isn't available to keep it healthy. This leads to irritation and inflammation, which will cause painful intercourse, and produce a white to yellowish discharge

(By the way, if you have this condition, you most likely suffer from other gland related problems such as: acne, difficulty conceiving, irregular periods, etc)

I would suggest each woman here look into a possible hormonal imbalance/dysfunction and seek healthy, natural lifestyle corrections such as diet change, increased water intake and proper supplements to affect overall health and in-particular to support healthy functioning glands.

While many here have found comfort in knowing they aren't alone and that this issue isn't so "abnormal" afterall, the only true relief is when we suffer this issue no longer. Whatever your quick short-term fix is, the reality of reoccurance is certainly undesirable as well as unhealthy and I would urge each individual not to stop until they have found the right combination of changes to end this frustrating condition.

Wishing you ALL the BEST of success and a life lived healthy and well!

Hi Girls, I have had the same problem for around 2 months-- maybe a little longer. I have had yeast infections in the past and I definitely know the difference between that and the chunky discharge that I have had more recently--- which also has no other symptoms occurring with the discharge (maybe some discomfort). I am 21 yrs old and never had sex, but was tested for STD's just in case.

I thought the chunky/abnormal discharge would go away in its own, but it never got better. Fed up, I decided to do a little research, including reading some posts on this forum (so glad I am not the only one) and I found a way to get rid of the chunky discharge.

I am thinking that the good bacteria is not controlling the bad bacteria in the vagina, for whatever reason (it could be different for everyone), causing the bad bacteria to flourish and cause the chunky white discharge; there is probably more to it than that, but whatever.

To fix the problem:

*I used hydrogen peroxide diluted with water and dipped a tampon in it. I just placed the tampon in the entrance on the vagina, not too far since I did not want to kill all the bacteria (just wanted to give it a good kick), and left for 15 min. Took it out and rinsed vagina with water.

*I only used the tampon once with the diluted hydrogen peroxide, then the rest of the times I just cleaned the outside of the vagina and just a little (maybe an inch-- probably less) into the entrance of the vagina.

*To replenish the vagina with good bacteria I ate Wegmans band pre- & probiotic yogurt  and took acidophilus pills. (any probiotic yogurt will work)

*Within the first two days I saw a significant difference; much thinner, and less 'scoop-able' chunky discharge.

*I just kept using the diluted hydrogen peroxide--- less and less every night though--- then every other night, to clean the vagina.
And ate at least 1/2 cup yogurt everyday and took acidophilus.

It has been around a week, and today is the first time that I have had no abnormal discharge. I have stopped using the hydrogen peroxide (it is tough stuff, don't want to go overboard) for now, but keep eating probiotic yogurt and taking the acidophilus everyday.

I will never stop eating the yogurt or taking acidophilus because then I will always have plenty of good bacteria to fight off any bad bacteria and, hopefully, not have this problem come back ever again.

***Now, just because this has worked for me (so far) does not mean it will help everyone; we are all different. Some people may not agree with what I did, but I had no side effects from it and I feel sooooo much more comfortable now. Also, it may or may not work as fast for everyone too; but at least it's an idea--- try it if you want

I'll update if I have any changes since it has only been a week, you never know. And if anyone tries this, or found something that really works for them, reply, I'd like to know what you did. good luck everyone

Hi folks,

I've been struggling with the same EXACT problem for years. Thick, white, bitter discharge. Coats my partner's penis like lotion and only comes out when you go deep inside. Doctors for years told me that my vagina was super healthy and everything was great and just kept treating me for yeast infections. Anyway, finally a doctor took more time to research and said it's either cytolytic vaginosis (as someone mentioned before) or something very similar called lactobacillosis. So, for you other folks out there, go tell your doctors! My doctor prescribed douching 2-3 times a day with 2 tablespoons of backing soda in 1 quart of water. She also prescribed me a weeklong treatment of Augmentin. It worked wonders! Now sex is no longer painful (especially deep penetration) as it was before (probably from dryness) and my vagina tastes totally back to normal!

Also, as I know doctors don't take this problem seriously and sort of act as though we are crazy and paranoid (this was the feeling I got), tell your doctors to take a swab and look at your discharge under the microscope. Apparently these two conditions are sort of an overgrowth of the healthy bacteria, so they can appear normal, but the ones that are taking over have mutated and look longer under the microscope and tend to hang out in clumps. So, tell your doctors to look at it under the microscope so they can see for themselves and diagnose you properly.

Though it's frustrating that the doctors don't believe us, these two conditions seem to be little known. Most doctors haven't heard of it and have no idea how to treat it so it passes under the radar. My doctor only found out because she spent extra time doing research for me (what a godsend).

Good luck!

I've had the same thing..sometimes it seems like it goes away for a week but always comes back.  I'm 29, 3 kids and take birth control.  But it seems like this affects women young and old.  Very thick, and creamy and white.  no odor, no std, no yeast, no bv.  About 8 months ago I started douching with Hyrogen Peroxide.  Peroxide is very normal and your body makes it all the time so it doesn't harm, hurt, tingle, burn (unless you do have an infection).  You can Google countless articles regarding the usefulness of peroxide in women's health.  I would not suggest any other type of douche.  Only peroxide.  I still have the problem, but peroxide helps the day to day.  I do it once a day or every other day when I'm in the shower.  No more heavy discharge in my underwear.  Also, makes NO MORE PROBLEMS for sex, vaginal oral.  I've come to my own conclusion...my body vaginal discharge is more active than the normal woman, and peroxide helps clean out what my body continues to leave behind.  I'm not a doctor, but I can say that It's the only thing that makes my vagina feel NORMAL and clean!  I'd suggest you to try it if you are experiencing this.  Buy a reusable douche and a few bottles of 3% peroxide (what they sell in store).  Use a about 8 oz or so.  No need to dilute.  It helps if you can lay down in tub, but not necessary, doing in shower will work just fine.  It's not a cure because you have to keep doing it, but peroxide is not expensive and if i have to deal with the discharge everyday I might as well make it seem likes it not there from the peroxide.  Hope this helps.  Don't be scared to try it.  I was at first but I needed to try something.

Hi everyone... I am 22 years old and I have had the same problem (thick white discharge that tastes very bitter and smells a little like potatoes, and am not lubricating at all) since I first got my period at age 12. I always thought it was a normal thing that every female went through, it wasn't until I became sexually active that my partner told me that I should check myself out, lucky he was very mature and experienced and didn't make the situation uncomfortable at all. I went to the doctors and explained to them that I have noticed it since my first period, the doctor tested my for everything and anything but it all came out negative. She led me to believe that it was just how my discharge was and the everyone's body is different and blah blah blah... so I just looked at it as being normal again. around senior year in high school it started to get really bad and I would find my underwear soiled with the stuff and as someone else said, it would sometimes be a little yellow-ish in color especially after it dried. I asked my best friend if it ever happened to her and she said no so I went back to the hospital with no luck.
I have noticed that now it has been happening more often than not and pantyliner's are my new best friends. It's becoming very annoying every time my boyfriend and I are intimate to have to keep using spit cuz I've gone dry or to see it all over my boyfriend. The more aroused I am the more comes out, I am very embarrassed and I would kill for a cure. I do find comfort in finally knowing that I am not the only one suffering from this after many years of asking my mother, grandmother, friends, co-workers, random women on the street lol thank you for sharing!

I am 17, almost 18 and I also have this problem. I am engaged and just recently began having sexual intercourse with my fiance. I am not on birth control but we ALWAYS use protection. We were both virgins when we began having intercourse so it is not an STD. My discharge occurs about once a month and it is thick and white, sometimes when I am in the shower I notice chunks of white stuff. I recently have been having pains in my lower left side moving toward my ovaries. I went to the emergency room because this pain was so unbearable. They did a pelvic exam and said everything looked amazing (literally). All of my test results came back negative and I am NOT pregnant. I just do not understand why I am experiencing this. When my fiance first seen the discharge on his penis he though I had an STD, it was so embarrassing! It also ruins my underpants, which really sucks because they are so expensive! :'( I also noticed that when we use different condoms it gets worse. I think it may have something to do with the latex. Has anyone else noticed this?! Maybe its an allergic reaction to latex or lubricant on the condoms. I have an appointment with my OB-GYNon the 7th of December and I am nervous to tell her what I have been experiencing but I know I have to. I still have abdominal pain, and I have taken many antibiotics for different infections the doctors think I could have.. (Which makes no sense because I was tested for all of them and they came back neg'). I am so confused and scared. I wish everyone luck! If I find anything out I will let you ladies know!

Hi All,

So of course I am also having this problem. For me it started due to two things (not sure which) I had a Copper IUD inserted a few months ago and I began having unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Either way its awful.

I've been to the doctor a bunch and on antibiotics a few times. Now once a week I take Boric Acid Vaginal Suppositories. They were a little weird feeling at first and about 12 hours after putting one in there is a massive flow of watery discharge for just a second. But they seem to be make this much better. I got them at the local health food store/pharmacy. They are really really cheap. Like $5 for 30 which at once a week is less then $10 a year. So if nothing else its worth a try.

The theory behind the Boric Acid is that it lowers the pH in the vaginal cavity making it more difficult for bacteria to multiply. Therefore cutting down on the total bacteria count in there.

So my suggestion is give Boric Acid a try!

Good luck girls, I know its awful but fingers crossed.
