I have a Copper-T IUD (intra uterine device) which is the NON-Hormonal one, and been in for 5 years. I have never been on any birth control pills.

I am free of STD's and have recently had a negative BV test. Cervix was examined and was determined normal.

The white discharge seems to come and go but not predictable, sometimes it coats my partner's penis, sometimes it doesn't. I do experience a bitter, slightly sour odor.

I have soaked a tampon with hydrogen peroxide or vinegar and place it in the vagina over night to help the pH. Not much luck with getting rid of the discharge entirely but it does seem to clean out a lot of it.

Since many of you on birth control pills haven't found answers, I feel like with my experience, it probably isn't related to birth control pills. Again, i don't take any hormonal pills.

If it isn't some kind of new strain of STD, and most of your doctors are saying it's normal, (being a nurse ) I'm going to speculate that it is some sort of chafing of the skin inside the vaginal wall. I do occasionally get irritation and dryness during sexual intercourse and that seems to cause more of the discharge the next day or so when i'm with my partner again.

It almost reminds me of after swimming for a long period of time and the skin on your fingers turning whiter and sometimes chafing if you rub them together. If dead skin soaks in water (like scrubbing dead skin flakes off your legs) for a while, it almost looks just like the discharge I experience. The vaginal discharge seems creamier though because it is being mixed with vaginal fluids

Just my take on it since apparently most of you, as well as me, are being told that this is normal

I have had this problem for several years now. For approximately 3 months, I stopped taking my birth control pills (Alesse 21 at the time). After about a month, I noticed that the white cruddy discharge completely went away. My discharge returned to clear and stretchy, particularly around ovulation time. My periods, which had been very light, but very dark brown in colour, returned to bright red and more "healthy" looking. I went back on the Alesse 21 in the Fall, and the nightmare started again. My doctor also told me that everything was normal. I've recently switched to Yaz upon the advice of my doctor and although I still have the thick white discharge, it doesn't seem to be present all the time. I noticed that if you get this on your finger and rub them together, it does look like dead skin that rubs off when you're wet. One of my friends and I discussed the issue and she told me that her doctor performed an ultrasound when she had the same problem, and told her that birth control creates a thick wall of mucus and builds up over time. This mixes with the normal uterus lining that builds up before your period, which contains tissue. The birth control, which makes your periods lighter and shorter, may also cause you to have much more discharge, including tissue from the uterus that has not been discharged during menstruation. Although no one seems to have the exact answer, and more opinions than anything, I personally feel like the birth control is responsible for this problem and have discussed using condoms and ceasing the pill altogether. Sex, especially from my perspective, has been negatively impacted by this problem, and I always feel like there's something wrong with me. I will try the peroxide douche and see what happens, but I think stopping the pill is the answer.

I decided to douche with Vagisil in an attempt to "start fresh". I then used RePHresh. OMG!!!!!!!!!! The discharge came out in MASSIVE amounts and was EVERYWHERE. It seemed to have multiplied by 100000000000000x. I was absolutely MORTIFIED. My doctor has me on anti-biotics now because she thinks I have a very bad BV infection and way too much lactobacillus (spelling). I had to douche 2 more times to "empty" my vaginal canal of this horrible horrible mess of discharge. I'm absolutely freaking out and DO NOT recommend that you use RePHresh to address this problem. I'd like any feedback or similar situations! Thanks and keep trying guys!

i've had this problem ever since my last antibiotics treatment 2 months ago for a serious tonsillitis (lasted for a month)
wonder if there's anything to do with the antibiotics screwing up my inner microorganic/bacterial balance?

I've experienced similar symptoms on and off over the years. I'm in my mid 40s now. I've been on oral contraceptives in past ("pill") and as I recall switching brands help alleviate the excess 'cottage cheese' like discharge I was experiencing...I have concluded that in those years past the pill was resulting in excess yeast buildup but luckily I wasn't experiencing the itchyness associated with yeast infections. As for the really white thick discharge that tends to coat my partner's penis (not every time we have intercourse), I noticed especially the past several weeks that I have had more of it. The discharge has little to no odor and has a somewhat bitter taste. I have noticed that it discharges out of vagina when I go to the bathroom but otherwise I haven't really notice it discharge into my underwear. I noticed it seems to be produced in larger amounts during times that I masturbate. I also wonder if at the moment the very hot temperatures are having an impact as I do exercise and get very sweaty so suspect it is affecting my system.

After reading these posts and having medical follow-ups with all coming up normal, I am thinking that this white thick discharge I am experiencing is just one more 'normal' thing I have to live with as a female. I will try not to feel too embarassed about it when with my partner (he hasn't said anything about it; I've even asked at one point as I was feeling really embarassed but needed to know how he felt/what he thought about it).

I'm glad I found this forum while searching online. Given some of these things aren't things I'd discuss with my 'friends' (at moment don't have a 'close friend' with whom I'd openly discuss some of these things), it's nice to hear/see what others might be going through and to realize I'm not the only one who is experiencing this.

Maybe this? Something called Leukorrhea.

Still doesn't seem to solve the problem though.

I'm so glad i found this post. same thing happens to me, white thick discharge, sometimes it's slimy. It doesn't get all over my boyfriends penis, but there is usually some on his balls. it sucks because i always have to check him every time we switch positions or we finish and i try to wipe it off before he notices. I just act like i'm playing with him, but really im trying to get it off him, he doesn't noticed regardless. I have been so lost about answers and have done so much research online and found nothing close until today. Not to mention all that online research makes you paranoid, and it sucks when you don't have health insurance to have doctors dismiss your suspensions. I've been getting the mystery discharge for over a year, and i am now 19. I've just come to the conclusion that my vag produces more of something than it should. Sex doesn't get dry for me, and the discharge doesn't dry and get flaky, it's just a consistent thing that's always appearing that i have to (scoop) out so it's just out of my body. I've noticed that after a good shower it won't appear for a few hours, that's usually when i have sex. I was on Depo from ages 16 - 17, and i also had a run-in with a bad staph infection when i was 18. So far i see 2 things in common with all the repies and it's antibiotics and birth control, maybe our bodies just don't agree with them? i have no clue...Im just SO glad i found some people having the same problem as me. Maybe we can find an answer

I have this issue and am in search of some answers. I have always been very sensitive to all different products, lubrication and materials surrounding my body. I am a lesbian, I rarely use penetrating toys and have cleanser for them if I do. Im not on Birth control and haven't been since 2006. I use to frequently have yeast infections then as I got older... they lessened but, this "Normal" discharge worsened. At first I thought it was yeast and my Dr. had me on fluconazole with a refillable prescription so, every time it got overly noticeable I took a pill. But it didn't help anymore. So last year I went back and she said it was "Normal Bacteria" with abnormal discharge. It wasn't that bad at that time so I just waited a few days, making sure to where loose clothing and wash allot. That seemed to help. Now, about 9 months later. It has increased with each break out. What was first creamy milk like discharge turned into creamy thick discharge with small tissue fragments and now larger tissue fragments. I call it the chunkies cause thats what it looks like to me. large thick white chunks of clotted discharge and tissue fragments. I tried to douch which makes it 10x worse. I tried Rephresh which makes me feel nasty and doesn't work. I tried taking the daily vitamins for PH balance. No help!! I don't know what to do to clean them up. I don't know what its caused by. The come and go infrequently but, it seems like they tend to start about one week prior to my period. It causes dryness, irritation, discomfort, and of course all types of embarrassment. I've been with the same partner since over 2 years almost. She says it does start to taste bitter right before I see it happen. I have no idea why this is happening but, mine seems severer than most stories I read. Please let me know if your issues worsen or if you find answer to what causes this.

Hi all,

Have you found an answer? I think i have had a similar situation where my partner's penis was covered with all the white stuff & it is very dry and hurts when have contact so i went to a pharmacy and get a tablet for myself (its a yeast infection), i took it and after a while the whole thing dissapear but when having contact with my partner, the whole thing comes back again so i went down to the pharmacy and asked, this time she asked if i had any sexual contact, i said yes..she said if there's any sexual contact, your partner and you have to take the dose at the same time to get rid of his infection too (guys will also get infected because they had sexual contact w us but it wouldnt be so obvious on men that it would be on us) so that explains why i recovered after taking the pills but the yeast returned after having contact with him... if you have this problem, pls do not use any lubricant as it will make things worse..

Hope this will help!

Good luck :-)

I have had the same issue for a year now. Doctors always prescribed me Diflucan, thinking I had a yeast infection. I finally saw a nurse practicioner (today!) who indicated that I might have a pH imbalance in my vagina. There's a product called RepHresh that she suggested. I am yet to try it, but I have hope that it will work.

REphRESH!!! You can find it at walmart next to the vagisil. I've had the same thing for a couple years, ever since I got my IUD put in. I did yeast infection treatments, I did bacterial vaginosis treatments(which I did have for awhile, but then the smell went away and tests came back neg... but discharge was still there.) Go to your OBGYNs and have you PH tested. it's a tiny test strip they wipe across a sample of discharge. If the yellow paper turns green your PH is too high. Simple as that. That's what my deal turned out to be. My OBGYN sent me to walmart to get REphRESH. I took it every third day as directed and didn't it seem to help much, so then I started doing it daily and after 3 days I was back to healthy normal. It lasted for about a month, then I did another 3 day back to back dose and I'm good again. My guess is many of you don't have infections if there is no smell, itchiness, or swelling. If that is the case, have you OBGYN check you PH levels. Then get REphRESH!

What I tried was half water half hydrogen peroxide and d***he with it. It works so far have to do it for 7 days, by the 3rd or 4th day it clears up. I think it also has to do with the BC and our diets.

I don't know if this helps you girls out or not, but I know my girlfriend very well and this has just started with her, though she denies it. Plain and simple, I know when it started. She was concerned about her weight and went on a *stu*pid* diet. I don't care about her having a couple extra pounds, and I might even leave her if she makes a big issue out of this sh*t, but the week she started dieting, her 'discharge' turned from clear, sweet, and liquid to something that looked more like cottage cheese and tasted like sour milk. Ladies, you're all different, I know, but stop *fuc*king* up your bodies to look like an AIR BRUSHED MAGAZINE COVER. Point blank, use condoms, deal with your period, practice safe sex, and stop messing up your hormones. seriously, do the math dummies. Hormones affect more than your vagina, they affect your mood, your mind, your body, and honestly no one enjoys being around a moody, mad, unreasonable, achey, bitchy woman. Took me half a year to get my girl off those drugs and she's never felt better or been happier.... until she started her diet. Thats my advice, I'm a guy, that's why I sound mean. Buhbye.
