I have. Struggled with this problem too. But there are some things that you can do...

Too much Estrogen ( whether from birth control pills, or ingested in the meats and dairy you eat ( false hormones) ) can disrupt the balance of normal hormone production by the pituitary gland. Google "Estrogen dominance" and see if the other symptoms plague you. A more accurate way to test delicate hormone levels is by saliva testing, the dr's usually only do blood work. This can be done at a naturopath. It could be a simple problem with estrogen.

Also, coconut oil is a good antibacterial and combatss all types of yeast. (there are many different kinds, with differing symptoms) you and your partner need to treat the yeast. Use virgin coconut oil as a lube during sex. It is very light and smells lovely. It is often used in India for just that. google coconut oil to see the benefits. Adding cocunut oil into your diet, up to 3 tbs. A day will help fight bacteria from the inside out. Add it to oatmeal, or peanut butter or cook with it...

Take A good quality probiotic. It should come from the fridge, to keep the most good bacteria alive. Take it on an empty stomach twice a day and take it an hour from any antibacterials. (ie. Garlic, cocunut oil, antibiotics.)

And lastly, if you also have digestive issues- heart burn, indigestion, constipation- the wrong bacteria are harboring in your intestines and re infecting you. A digestive enzyme may help. You will then absorb the nutrients better with a digestive aid. Google " protease deficiency" and see if the symptoms suit you.

Cotton underwear, air outs and proper diet will also help. Be patient. Practice stress management and if you are doing these things, trust your body to heal. Candiasis will appear to get worse before it gets better when the case is extreme.

I truly hope this helps. If it is ruining your life, it is worth giving all the above a try.

I already posted on here but I have been following new posts since I last posted. I began thinking that many my problem wasn't the same as you guys but someone posted that when the discharge dries it is like when you have glue on your hand and you rub your hands together and it dries up into little balls. This exact thing happens to me. Is this happening to everyone else? It makes me very dry while having sex and personally it is the most embarrassing part.

Hey ladies!
So-- here's a kicker to this ongoing issue WE ALL seem to have. I've had it since about a year and a half ago, after i had been with my fiance for a while.

out of curiosity, do you guys have heavy periods? or drink a lot of coffee/tea? or have been on depo provera the bc shot?

these are ALL things that influence your discharge.

I have had this for about six months no vaginosis, no yeast infection and no trichomonous, or any other std. It makes me very uncomfortable andmakes it difficult to have a organsim. wich made me very evil :-S . So i made an appointment with a specialist and in the mean time i have taken three baths a week with three table spoons of baking soda then laceing my vaginal walls with vaseline twice a day. This is a case of repitious bacteria forming in the vagina, it could be from a partner having multiple sex partners and not using a condom, but that would clear up if you stopped dating him. Trick is to know for sure weather or not its not one of the above symptoms first. the two things together seem to slow down the process making sex a little more pleasant and orgazism more attainable. Wich makes me a much happier person :-P overall. Yet i think continueing to talk with my doctor and requesting a speacialist who knows the vagina is a must. So i will still be making my doctors apptment. Buy the way mine started after a leep procedure i been treated for yeast several times but all std's and yeast keep coming back negative. The tampon trick works two. I will repost ounce i see the specialist

I have the same problem as everyone else. My doctor told me its the birth control pill and its the estrogen levels that conflicts with the body's estrogen level. I've tried from high levels of birth control to the lowest levels of hormones. Nothing works. My doctor told me I should change to the depo shot, but I'm kind of scare taking it because I have heard so many horror stories about it.

I hope someone reads this...
I have had the same problem since this past summer (8/10) In May I had both BV and Thrush, and both were treated. I then had strep, which resulted in antibiotics, and thrush came back, but was treated. Since then I've had that thick chunky white discharge. I just went to the gyno AGAIN on Monday for probably the 10th time, and wouldn't you know all times I've tested negative for any infection. I do occasionally itch, but only on the outside and only every once in a while. The Dr. finally told me that I might have a condition in which the cells of the vagina shed a lot quicker than their supposed to.. which is causing the think discharge. They haven't really dealt with it, but the one thing that does work is boric acid. If I use one once then the discharge does go away for a week or two. When it starts to come back then I pop another one in. Dr. said that b/c of the repeat negative cultures, this might be my best bet :-( SUCKS!!!!

Hello. I am 24 years old and have the same thick, white discharge. I know it is not an std since I have been checked numerous times, and also am engaged and we havent been with anyone else in 3 years. I can remember never having this issue. I was also on orthtricyclin lo and another orthtri something birthcontrol. I ended up going off of that and onto depovera the birthcontrol shot. Which helped a great deal. I went to a specialist in Philly, Dr. Nyregesy, and he said nothing was wrong with me!!! Depo vera acts as a drying agent, which most doctors wont tell you, but it helped with the discharge, however I had spotting for like 6 months, and tampons are expensive! Because of the spotting I went back on birthcontrol pills and all the symptoms have come back. In my own theory, I believe it's the birth control pills. Once I noticed the symptoms coming back, I went to my obgyn and got checked for yeast, vaginitis, etc. Nothing. So I stopped my pills, and I still have the symptoms. This sucks and I dont know what to do. Any ideas??????

Hi ladies. This is a long post, I apologize, but I want to give you a thorough background and I really think it could help all of us.
I too have been having this issue and it has really affected my quality of life. I'm 22 now, but my problem began back when I was 18 and became sexually active. I got a yeast infection and have been having problems ever since. I've only had 3 sexual partners and with the previous two guys it was very infrequent. I started being regularly sexually active with my current boyfriend about a year and a half ago and that is when the real problems began. First came a horrible yeast infection. I went to the doctors several times to treat this and used the prescribed fluconazole after monistat failed. But after 3 weeks, still nothing was helping. So I started looking more seriously into homeopathic remedies and found that in many cases these prescription and over-the-counter meds can actually create stronger yeast in your body. I researched for hours online and I enlisted help from the nutritionist at the health food store where I work. Within 2 weeks the itching and the cottage cheese discharge went away and I was a lot more comfortable.

But I kept having discharge. This discharge does seem to change with my monthly flow and sometimes there will be almost none for no apparent reason. Sometimes there isn't be much of it and it isn't all that clumpy. It mostly sticks to the walls and when I scoop it out it does look kind of clumpy, but not in the same was as when I had a full blown yeast infection. Mine isn't bitter all, but like many of you, most of the time it winds up on my undies and it dries me out during sex (although I found that this lube helped and didn't cause me problems after: ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed

For a long time I believed that this was a residual yeast infection that was refusing to leave. I continued to try yogurt, active probiotics, using garlic up there, hydrogen peroxide cleansing, finger douching, even the extremely restrictive candida cleanse diet ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed and later I also tried the gluten free diet. But nothing has really really helped my situation. I noticed that things got a bit better on the candida diet, but it is so difficult to follow for a long time and I only lasted about 2 months, during which I accidentally lost about 7 pounds. But I have no itching, no burning, no odor, generally no unpleasantness other than this weird discharge so eventually I realized that this isn't quite the same as the yeast infections I had dealt with before.

One thing that had never occurred to me was that it might have something to do with my endometriosis, something which a couple of other ladies on this board have mentioned. I looked further into this and chronic yeast infection / candida as well as the symptoms are closely linked with endometriosis. What it is:
"In women with Endometriosis, the natural bodily processes of the reproductive system goes seriously wrong. The disease is linked and affected by the menstrual cycle and the hormones that make menstruation happen. Physically, what happens is that tiny, and sometimes microscopic particles that are similar to the lining of the womb, find their way into the pelvic cavity. These particles behave in the same manner as the lining of the womb. The lining of the womb is called the endometrium, which is where this disease gets its name." (super helpful website: ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed
What having endometriosis has meant for me is that my periods can sometimes be extremely painful, far beyond the pain of normal cramps. Usually when I have a flare-up, it occurs the morning I get my period, about an hour or two before I first see blood. I start to have intense throbbing pain in my pelvic area, not just my uterus, and eventually I wind up on the toilet, take a poop, my period starts, and within another hour the pain gradually subsides. For these periods I have a lot of similar pain with subsequent poops and even with gas for the next couple of days. This is likely due to the endo cells causing my reproductive organs to adhere to my digestive organs. Other than that, my period is relatively normal. I get it about every 5 weeks for exactly 7 days each time. This pain didn't start when my period started, but 5 years later when I was roughly 17. Other people may have different symptoms, but endometriosis is usually dealt with in two ways: laparoscopic surgery to remove the cysts directly, or birth control to regulate estrogen levels. The candida diet is also recommended for those with endometriosis, which may be why it helped me.

Having sex and being sexually active can increase your levels of estrogen, which can cause the endometriosis to flare up. I know not all of you are sexually active, but there are also other triggers which can change your levels of estrogen, including birth control, surgery, extreme exercise, and even the foods you consume. So the question is, how many of you ladies know that you have endometriosis or how many of you share any of these symptoms? Maybe this is the missing link. According the endo-resolved website, many women and even doctors are not aware of endometriosis and so it often goes undiagnosed. Or maybe it is more of a general estrogen level issue. Someone did state in an earlier post that 3 weeks after she had laparoscopic surgery that her situation increased significantly, so I'd really love if you/she could follow up again.

I went to my doctor last week to discuss my discharge because I have only actually spoken to the GUM about it. She basically told me it is normal and is more than likely my pill (Dianette) making the discharge thicker and that the discharge naturally changes throughout the cycle. Due to being on the pill for a long time, with only a few months break, I guess it is logical...but something I forgot to mention to her is that I have been having hot flushes! I am 22 and every so often I feel sick and have a complete flush which is visible on my chest and face. This quite obviously suggests to me an imbalance in hormones but i don't know whether it could be linked to taking a contraceptive pill which has built up in my system over the years, hence why the problem is occuring now. I am not sexually active at the moment and haven't been for about 6 months but I am still uncomfortable and can actually feel the discharge, kinda like I've got something inside there all the time (no I haven't left a tampon in lol). In relation to endometriosis, my mum had it, and I have had painful symptoms but I was told by my doctor that the best time to investigate is when I come off the pill and try to conceive. At the moment I am trying to accept that I may have to live with this uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassing discharge especially if I am doing it to myself by taking the pill (which I actually take more for acne, rather than contraception.) %-)

im not taking birth control pills but i suffer the same thing as u guys did. yes, its very thick and i can totally relate to what some of you are saying that you can scoop it out. i thought it was a vaginal infection so i took antibiotics as what i have read from books after a day after i finished my medications, my discharged became clear but i had sex there after then the whitish infection came back. i thought i came up with another infection from that guy so after several months i took another antibiotics coz i thought i had std's again. just few days ago i finished my antibi's but still i have those thick vaginal discharge some rice-like and some i can scoop out some are plain thick whitish liquid lotion-like or shampoo-like. im tired of taking antibi's so i searched the internet. and it makes me feel better to read that im not the only one experiencing this. and yes, its a problem coz it affects my sex life in a negative way. after reading this thread.. i understand that several girls are experiencing the same thing.. but how do we treat this? or should this be treated? is this normal at all? btw, ive been having this for 2 yrs now.. my mom's an ob gyn but im embarrased to ask her i dont want her to know im sexually active. pls help out.

The difference is that the vaginal discharge is normal for most women and comes in a clear manner. A yeast infection is rather an overgrowth of yeast in the vaginal area. The discharge is thick, white cheese and home. Will cause itching and burning.

I'm sooo relieved to see that there are more women out here tring to battle this as well. My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half and from time to time i have very thick white discharge almost like glue. It has become so embrassing I don' t want to have sex anymore because I don't want him to think i have a STD or somethings wrong with me. I have been to the doctor over and over again and I still get the same answers. I don'tn know what to do anymore it's so embrassing i'm tried switching soaps, underwear, and laundry detergent. I'm just so clueless on what to do next i've tried herbal pills, rephresh, and creams. With no results if anyone finds a solution please let me know..

I too am a member of this club. One full calendar year I've lived this nightmare, after 20 hospital & gyno- visits, not to mention the countless amount of un needed medication I finally got an accurate diagnosis. I am allergic to my now ex-boyfriends semen. Sounds crazy, but it now makes perfect sense. I didn't have the problem prior to him, & noticed once I began using condoms with him, I was fine. My doctor says that although rare, semen allergies are a reality & quite worrisome. There are tests, but I find latex free condoms to be all I need.

I have the SAME exact problem and I don't know what to do. I've tried yeast infection medications like Monostat and Yeast Guard but they don't seem to work.
If anyone can find something that does please let me know. I've been self diagnosing for several months and its super frustrating. I can't go to a doctor cause I'm kind of a wuss. Thanks.
