Same problem for me for about a year and a half. I'm 21 almost 22. It's off and on and like everyone else...I am completely unaware that it is even in there until intercourse where it is then all over my boyfriends penis and myself. Very thick, clumpy white, no odor, no burning, no itching, just very uncomfortable during sex due to the stuff being so thick that it causes too much friction. Spit doesn't help and lube doesnt help. And oral sex has gotten boring because my boyfriend has to stick to just the clitoral area because of what's inside. I've been with him for over 4 years and we're used to each other but it is still so embarrassing for me to have this problem. I feel bad for letting him go down on me because I don't feel that he should have to or want to so sex is just very bland for me. I feel awful and stressed out about it almost all the time and can't really enjoy it. I find it odd that all of us have the same exact issue and no doctor has been able to tell us anything other than that it's normal. There is no way this can be normal.

I am 18 and i have had this same issue for about 4 years now. A lot of white discharge and vaginal dryness. Super annoying when i try to have sex. Get the awkward questions. I hate it. I have tested negative for any kind of STD or infection as well. I am also not on birth control so I dont think that is the cause.

A few months ago I was having thick discharge and thought it was a yeast infection. I went and got it checked out and it turned out to be a condition called "BACTERIA VAGINOSIS." It is a bacteria infection in the vagina. She told me they are not really sure what it is caused from since the female vagina can produce over 200, or some ridiculous number of different types of bacteria. It can also cause dryness and itching caused by the dryness. I was prescribed an antibiotic for 7 days and went back for a follow up and everything was fine.

Since this topic already seems to have been bumped, I'd like to register my opinion.
Bitter taste suggest a bacterial infection, and the chunky discharge is characteristic of a common yeast infection (especially since probiotics seem to have worked for at least one woman); most likely, you're all just prone to them. They're a pain in the butt, but there are plenty of OTC and natural remedies for yeast infections.
Also, tampons are not a good idea - just as with UTIs, it's better to just let it flush out naturally. Do not douche - douching, in fact, can lead to an imbalance of vaginal bacteria that results in yeast infections. The next time you have symptoms, get to your gynecologist as quickly as you can to confirm, and then you should be able to self-treat after that (the reason for this is that the same symptoms are characteristic of some serious STIs, so you want to be sure).
Good luck!

I'm a 3rd year med student so maybe you shouldnt trust me but sounds like you all have Bacterial Vaginosis. Not all infections follow the same course...sometimes there does not have to be a fishy odor and the discharge can be adherent to the vaginal walls (hence the finding it all over your boyfriends penis). Gynos are just used to that fishy smell as a clue and if its not there they overlook it. Go get some Metronidazole. Clears it right up :]

Hey guys!
i have (almost) exactly the same symptoms as everyone! What started off as an 'on and off' slightly abnormal discharge (more in volume, milkier and either white or light-yellow).... has turned into a constant daily occurence/norm for me! the problem started about 1.5 years ago.... prior to late 2008, i'd had bacterial vaginosis and yeast (at the same time, very unpleasant-smelly and itchy) and thrush twice on separate occasions (a bit itchy and unpleasant but no smell), all were fixed.
then i started getting the weird discharge in late 2008 and assumed it was thrush, as it doesn't itch... early 2009, doctor said ihad mild thrush, so was given thrush cream, but this only helped make the discharge lessen, but was still not 'normal'.... tried the thrush cream again, but of course, it didn't work, so i figured i'll wait it out and see what happens... Two thorough tests since (end of 2009 & beginning 2010) including swab culture, pee and blood samples, the docs still aren't sure what's wrong with me, and assumed it was some kinda thrush and gave me the cream for it again! No surprise, it didn't work....
I have been on the pill since about 2 years, started off using a really low dose pill (called Loette, in australia) but since being diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), i have turned to Diane-35, a much stronger pill with estrogen... i've only been using this pill for about 4 months, and the 'issue' turned constant very early this year, so the change of pills was not a reason, however consuming the pill itself could be... (although someone mentioned they experimented with going off the pill and no difference was seen)... another reason for this could be my PCOS which kinda throws my hormones off-balance...
i also get kinda stringy discharge; on an average day, a couple of stringy clumps of light yellow that i can sometimes pull out, or if they are thinner lumps, it snaps off.... (which i sometimes get with a cu-tip). a big problem for me during sex is also the inability to 'stay wet', and yes, fingering is not a nice experience for me anymore! i have checked and i taste sour and vinegary, and although my discharge itself doesnt smell, after a long day (before showering) i smell 'stale'... something i didn't really have a problem with before.... maybe i'm just more self conscious... but i can't have sex in the mornings because i fear the discharge from the night before is all 'stale' and the stringy bits will come out (which in the bright morning light will be very visible!)...
my boyfriend of 2 years is really understanding, but he does wonder where my sex drive went (as compared to the first 6 months)! i really wonder too, but this situation has made me self conscious and really stressed... sex is also not as enjoyable for me either, as i don't lubricate very easily (only after i orgasm i get really wet, but being more sensitive doesn't always make me feel like sex after orgasm as well).
i'm so confused and although it does help me feel better that i'm not alone in this struggle, i do feel disheartened that there seems to be no cure... (except for the girl who got her 'endo's removed...i'm assuming they are cysts? and if they are, i have a bunch of cysts on my ovaries so maybe that could be the problem!)... i have lately started to feel deep pain during sex if my bf goes too deep, too suddenly (past month and a half maybe)....so will be going to the doctor again...*sigh*.... apparently this could be cervicitis... but i have no idea! i seem to have symptoms of many STI but have none!
*sighs*

I have just discovered this topic after hunting for help with the same problem. Has anyone had any luck? I am not currently in a sexual relationship but am dreading going into one again. I have been tested for everything, similarly to others who have posted here. Doctors confirm that I do not have an STI, thrush or BV. I have tried using thrush treatments, creams, pessaries and tablets but the discharge does not seem to alter. I also have tried using Bio-Fem which disguises the problem with a gel that would also be highly embarrassing to expect a partner to go anywhere near..but doesn't actually cure the problem. I also experience some pain during intercourse in certain positions where penetration is deeper and my mother did suffer with endometriosis. I have been checked for cysts, but have none. I have also tried coming off the contraceptive pill, but this made no difference to the discharge. I am 21 and noticed the change during the last 1-2 years. It is constantly uncomfortable and I sometimes feel like my cervix is too close to my vaginal opening, it doesn't hurt but just seems to be swollen. My doctor is useless so I will probably find more help here even if this post was originally very old! Good luck!

I also have thick white vaginal coating that rarely discharges from my body, it only comes out on my boyfriend's penis because like many of you described, it is stuck deep inside of my vagina. It comes and goes, and doesn't really smell but has a bitter taste (it doesn't really affect oral sex because its so deep in there that no one's really complained about it). It always worries me, but when I've been tested nothing has come up. I don't have answers, but I would like to know what it is, just like many of you.

I have the same problem, but I am not on birth control, and never have been. The white gunk only happens every so often, but it gets really really thick, and comes out all over my penetrative toys. It's somewhat like white glue! It dries really quickly and then looks like when we were kids and played with drying the glue to our hands to peal off as fake skin.
I'm a student, so I don't eat very well, but I am vegan, however I've been having this problem since before I restricted my diet. I don't exercise, but I've decided to go on a health kick this winter, as my work is now offering discount gym memberships. I will post on here and let anyone know if it clears up because of this.

The same thing happens to me. I'm on the same birth control you use. That is probably what is causing it.

I have had this problem for about 2 years now. Doctors treated me for yeast infections but none of it worked they found out it wasnt a yeast infection but couldnt give me an answer. I have to wear liners everyday and it's so annoying! me and my boyfriend have done most things but i dont like him performing oral on me just because i know it has a bitter taste and a bit of a smell. Im so embarrased by it. From reading everyones elses posts, i am scared that sex will be a problem and that my boyfriend will have an issue with it. That is seriously holding me back. Doctors have been no help and i get so upset about it. I went on birth control to help my periods and the doc said it could make the problem better or worse but i have seen no change. I honestly don't know what to do. :-( so frustrating! grrrr

It's not birth control. Many of us on here including myself are NOT on birth control and are having this horrible issue that no doctor seems to have a answer for.

I am only 17 an I have had te same problem for over a year now. Although I was not having sex frequently until this summer it did affect my sex life. My doctor prescribed me Yaz and it has seemed to work for the most part the discharge is kept to a very minimum. When I have sex a lot in a week I find it gets wise but mt doctor also told me to make capsule to insert with boric acid. This helps keep the discharge to a minimum also.
