how do you treat mycoplasma hominis and ureaplasma urealyticum??? both were detected in me about two years ago but my doctor said it was nothing to worry about .. but now i'm thinking this is the underlying cause of my discharge. and no doctor i've seen after that time tests for it or cares to. how can i get treatment ? does anyone know any doctor in NYC that tests for these bacterias ?

Nope. It's real. My husband and I both took antibiotics for a week. I didn't know about the lingering part, but it makes sense. It was within our first month of dating. No beer, no sex, no fun!

woah so glad to see this thread. i honestly never knew that this was not really normal since ive had this since puberty. Im 21 and ive always had some kind of discharge everyday (which varies in the amount and texture) i was on birth control once when i was 18 for a bout a year (not sexually active) but didnt notice any difference. Im going to try the candida diet to see if that helps at all since im too scared to shove anything up there. Also as a side note, i did notice that when i was told to take vitamin D3 pills fromm my doctor(since im slightly deficient) that i had WAY less discharge than i usually did. However, i stopped taking them (my face started breaking out and i assumed it was the vitamins???)and the discharge slowly went back to my normal. when i tried going back on a while ago there was no significant change for the better. So, i may try to do it again. Maybe this will help any of yall if you also have a vitamin D deficiency or just want to try it. Ill update.

Have you all be tested for hpv? Or have any of you had abnormal cells?

I have the same problem. I'm 30 and have been with the same partner for 2 years. I was only on bc for about a month but the problem still is persistent. It's frustrating! I don't get dry to the point of irritation, but not as wet as I used to get.

I'm glad I discovered this msg board as I thought I'd read everything I could on CV.  I've spent countless hours researching cytolytic vaginosis online as I've had this issue for 2 years. It all began after I had unprotected sex with a new partner.  It started out as itching on my right labia minora, but no discharge. Then as it progressed, I began itching on the inside and outside, I developed a significant amount of discharge, and sex became painful because I was dry. I'd never had an issue with dryness, so this was definitely something new. With regard to the discharge, sometimes the discharge is thin and watery, other times it's thick and pasty, but there's never been an odor. I've been swabbed, cultured, poked, prodded - YOU NAME IT! I've seen various doctors for this condition only to be told that it's yeast and nothing else.  Although topical treatment such as Terconazole and Miconazole do help with the itching/irritation, it's only a short-term solution.  The itching/irritation are the worst after my period.  I've done the baking soda sitz baths, but they are only soothing while I'm in the tub. Once the discharge begins to seep out again, I'm miserable again. I've suspected from the very beginning that it was an overgrowth of lactobacillus, but I highly suspect the doctors don't even consider CV since cultures clue them in on things that should NOT be there. Lactobaccillus is a good bacteria and should be there, but if there's an overgrowth, it's still not considered an "infection" hence why it probably doesn't appear in a culture.

Although I've yet to find a cure, I have discovered that Preseed personal lubricant works the best. You can get it at most drug stores and it's about $24 a tube.  It's pricey, but it's the only thing that I have found to eliminate most of the itching and discharge.  When I first began to use it, it didn't work, but the secret is to add a little bit of baking soda to it, and that seems to do the trick.  I fill the Preseed applicator with about 2 grams of lube and then I sprinkle a little bit of baking soda on a napkin and put two pinches of baking soda in the applicator and insert it at bedtime.  If you use too much baking soda, it will burn, so just keep that in mind.

A few other posters mentioned liquid calcium, so I just started using it this morning. I'll report back to let you know if it has helped or not.  I really think this is a hormonal issue, but being on birth control for two months did not help this issue at all.  However, I'm determined to nip this in the bud once and for all and find some long-lasting relief.

Hi, I've been on the liquid calcium for about 4 days now and I can't definitively say that it has helped. I'm not as itchy as I was earlier in the week... on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most itchy/irritated, I'm about a 5 or 6 right now. I'm also ovulating right now, and my symptoms usually calm down a bit during ovulation anyway. The liquid calcium I take is by Bluebonnet and it's actually the Calcium/Magnesium Citrate/Vitamin D3 mixture; but I'm thinking about just taking the liquid D3 drops. The magnesium citrate works as a gentle bowel stimulant and it's given me gas and bloating.
Sorry this response is so long, but I wanted to be thorough with my update. I'll continue to update you all with my progress.

Let us know if the probiotic works for you after your period ends. I've read that probiotics typically increase the lactobacillus which is something we don't want since CV is indicative of an overgrowth of lactobacillus. But if you find that it begins working for you, please share.

I took probiotics for a while and they didn't seem to help at all :( my doctor told me to take them when he thought it was yeast, but my gynecologist told me not to take them and actually decrease yogurt intake and stuff because it could make it worse. It never made it worse, but didn't make it any better either.

I feel like no matter what all these remedies are only temporary, nothing is long term or an actual cure. This is my 3rd year with this and I've been in a depression ever since. I feel like I can have a normal life and sex life
