Can I ask to see if we have some of the same symptoms?
My discharge is white and as thick as lotion, if I rub it between my fingers it's very flakey, it has a very sour smell and taste, and it's dries me up during sex.

Hi there! Yes we have the same symptoms, but I also have itching, redness, irritation on a daily basis. I'm very dry both during sex and even when I'm not having sex, but I'm starting to understand more about this condition. My gyne cultured me and the results came back as Candida albicans, but what's interesting is that if it was just yeast, it would respond to antifungal treatment, right? Right. Not only have antifungals not helped, I'm wondering if they've made things worse. This "thing" has progressively gotten worse over time and I'm wondering if me bombarding my system with Diflucan has made it this way. My gyne put me on a long-term regimen of Diflucan, but I stopped because it's not helping and she doesn't seem to think it's CV. I think the dryness is the result of the nature of this beast. Cyto means cell, lytic means death, so cytolytic vaginosis is the destruction of the vaginal cell wall or the normal cells that reside in the vaginal responsible for lubrication. Finally, I've never tasted my vaginal discharge first hand, so I can't attest to the taste, but my discharge doesn't have a sour odor or anything like that. It smells fresh and normal, but it's just white and thick like paste and if I stick my finger in my vagina, my finger is covered in little whitish clumps that look like wet toilet paper. *sigh* My brain is consumed with this and I'm so depressed over it. I'm kinda thankful I'm not in a relationship right now because there's no way I'd be able to have sex.

So what does the preseed actually do, like what do it help? Sorry I'm so so desperate but and so tried of trying things and being disappointed...

Maybe you guys are pregnant?

Preseed is an alkaline based lubricant and for some, it helps to temporarily relieve the itching, burning and discharge. Other lubricants are acidic and only add to the already too acidic environment of those suffering from CV. Preseed just makes the vagina slightly less acidic by raising the vagina's pH.

Drink a ton of water on a consistent basis, take acidophilus and for about 3 days in a row get a fresh lemon and drink the juice straight morning and night.

How long does one bottle of pressed last you? My biggest fear is I can't get pregnant because this discharge is so thick, sperm will never be able to get past it

Hi there! One tube of Preseed usually lasts me about 3 weeks. I only use it every 2-3 days and I use about 1.5 - 2 grams each time (the measurement is on the side of each applicator). I'd guess that if you're trying to conceive that it would be very difficult for the sperm to get through since the discharge is so thick, but that's the good thing about Preseed. It thins the discharge or nearly eliminates it long enough for you to have intercourse around the time of ovulation. I wish you the best of luck with everything...I know this is so frustrating for all of us.

Hi Phoebe,

Since this post I started having problems with dryness. I've had this discharge since January, but the vaginal dryness is new for me & I believe stress related. I very recently began using grape seed oil (food grade) & the goo has all but disappeared. I don't know if this will be a long term solution, but at $6 a bottle I'm definitely willing to try! I've used other oils (olive oil & coconut oil) & it didn't go away with that so I am cautiously hopeful!!

Hey there! So how do you apply the grape seed oil? Topically or do you take it orally? I've been meaning to update you all on my recent discovery, but since September 2016 up until about a month ago, I had constant, intense itching with the discharge. I had seen an RN and a OBGYN (within the same medical practice) and they both told me it was yeast. I requested that a culture be taken and the results of the culture revealed that it was yeast. I was extremely frustrated as I KNOW this isn't yeast. I've had yeast infections in my past and while this mimmicks yeast, the consistency of the discharge seems different.

Well, my OBGYN suggested that I get back on the pill and she wanted me to continue the long term Diflucan therapy. I was completely fed up with the $$ I'd been spending for Diflucan because it wasn't helping at all!! So y'all, I decided to rely on my faith and turned to God and began to pray. Shortly thereafter, I began to think if repeated tests and cultures showed that yeast was present, then MAYBE I do have a yeast infection along WITH CV (studies have shown this can occur). So, I decided to approach this "yeast infection" head on. I read that people who have systemic yeast are sometimes prescribed Diflucan 400mg per day. I also read that someone who has recurrent YI should take 150mg per day for 10-14 days and then 150mg once a week for 6 mos. So, I thought I'd give it a try. I took 150mg of Diflucan for 3 days and lo and behold, the itching and irritation was gone! For the first time in a long time, I didn't have to use any cream, ointment, suppositories, etc. or anything.

Now let me be clear: while I still believe this is CV, I think I had/have a YI which is why I was so itchy and irritated. I also want to say that when I was taking the Diflucan daily that I didn't feel as dry down there. I really think that this discharge is why I feel so dry.

Now to the downside of all of this - I STILL have the thick, pasty discharge, BUT it's not as much as it used to be since I've been back on the pill. I know this post may not be helpful to some of you, and I know I haven't found a cure for the CV part of my problem, but I do feel as though I had a heavily resistant YI that needed intense medicinal therapy to relieve the itching and irritating symptoms. I go back to my OBGYN in about 3 wks, so we'll see what she says when I go back.

Hi everyone. I've been following this thread for a while now and have tried almost everything recommended. The latest being the goo gone lube.Ibgot the Laura Vanderhen (sp?) Lube and mixed in rose geranium essential oil. I thought it was working at firat until I realized it was just a bandaid. If I dont use the lube day and night, the thick creamy discharge returns. I really believe that this is hormone related. Mine didnt start until I started using the Xulane birthcontrol patch. I've stopped after using for a year and still have the discharge. I know its not yeast or bv. My doc said it was normal and I know it isnt. Ask to have your hormones checked and give them your symptoms.

Ladies, I just wanted to give an update - I went to my OBGYN today and she basically looked at me and said she can't help me anymore. I was crushed! She said that if I wanted her to, she would prescribe terconazole for the itch, but said the discharge I'm having is normal (which I know is not!). I was trying to be optimistic in thinking that she would have another game plan since what I was doing wasn't working, but she let me down by saying she's exhausted all her ideas and there's nothing she can do to help me further. I probably won't post anymore unless I find a cure, but thank you for the ideas and I wish you all well.

OMG reading all these stories makes me want to cry because I feel your pain!!! I've been dealing with this thick lotion like discharge for what feels like FOREVER!!! It's the discharge that don't come out (i can scoop it out with my finger) and I feel so dry. I've tried Rephresh and it just makes it worse! The odor is off and I can't tell anymore if it's a fishy smell or a musty smell. I've been to the doctor more times than I can count, Spent so much money and still have the same issues!!! My doctor first told me I had Group B Strep and prescribed me antibiotics. Now every time I go he says he see's a little bit of bacteria but if he were just doing a check up he would say eveything looks great. If he see's bacteria how can he say my vagina is healthy and everything is good? I'm so frustrated with this. I don't know what else to do. I almost feel depressed at times over it. I feel like there's no hope! And I don't do anything to cause it. I don't take baths anymore (meaning sit in a tub of water) I bathe daily I have good hygiene I don't douche. I just don't know what to do.
