Can anybody tell me more about varicoceles and the surgery done to fix them? I was shocked when my testis started shrinking without apparent cause! I had no pain or discomfort whatsoever! I was worried because I couldn’t even think about what it could be as I know cancer usually makes testicles swell. I understood it is something wrong with the veins transporting blood to the testicles but I couldn’t understand why and how it occurred. My doctor suggested surgery; I have to decide upon traditional or laparoscopic. Any suggestions? Experience to exchange?
I am in the same cage as you are. I had no symptoms, it’s just that my wife and I couldn’t get pregnant. IT was her who had all sorts of tests first and we paid a lot of money for them but then her doctor suggested I should get tested as well. They told me that varicocele are often a cause of infertility as blood backs up and dilates these veins that carry the blood. I am also about to undergo a surgery repair. My doc said undergoing an open (traditional) surgery would be better as unlike in other surgeries laparoscopic carried more potential complications. My problem is that I have to wait at least 3 months but possibly one year to see any improvement in sperm production.
