Thanks ANdrea, I'm so happy that you actually replied to this blog entry. I still feel it. Like my head wants to tip over and when I walk its not stable like i'm tipping to one side or another. I feel like my head is light and unstable and it wants to fall. I've had chronic sinusitis since probably Jan 08 but didn't get a confirmational MRI til sep 08. Everyday since Probably like 4 years ago is like a struggle. I am tired of this i'm thinking about seeing a neurologist. What do you think about this people? I've seen a ENT already who said it was chrnoic sinusitis and prescribed augmentin, but the tipping or instability or head imbalance is still there and there's this constant pressure ball in the top of my head and i feel these tingly or weird electrical wiring electricity sensations in my head as well. My ears feel a little plugged with something but my main concern is my head feels like tipping over or imbalanced. Can anyone suggest anything or help me find a cure?

Can anyone help me out? I have been constantly having vertigo now for the past 2 weeks straight? I am also suffering with being nauseous and not able to see straight sometimes due to my dizziness. Also terrible equilibrium. So far this is my medical history that I have that relates to vertigo:

3 1/2 years ago - I had was a biopsy on my neck to find out if I had Hodgkins Lymphoma which It was negative .

Last year I had to go to ER for Vertigo. I was dizzy I felt like I was going to pass out. Felt like I had drank 30 or 40 beers.

Now - I am a 29 year old male in perfect health, I have never had an ear infection in my life the only thing. I work out regularly, good diet, not overweight. Just afraid this might effect my upcoming job.

I was thinking about going and seeing a Chiropractor and also getting a hot ear wax treatment. Can anyone help me with this matter? I am tired of having my equilibrium all messed up.

Dizziness can very well be caused by sinusitis. I suffer from sinus infections about twice per year. Often the only symptoms I have are dizziness and extreme fatigue. My guess is that these symptoms are brought on simply by the lack of oxygen to the brain, which is caused by sinus congestion. I am a big believer in homeopathic and other natural remedies. However, as soon as I start to feel the symptoms of a sinus infection, I go straight to the doctor for antibiotics. Relief is so quick - usually within two days. Why suffer needlessly?

I have had vertigo for 1 month now. It started with a sinus infection that I tried to ignore and it just worsened. I also had a terrible wax build up in my ears...how gross! Nothing has worked to resolve this problem from my doctor. I have been going each day to the chiropractor for two weeks and today was the first day I was able to drive in over a month. I have been scared that I have MS or something more serious. I took 3 different antibiotics, had two bladder infections and a yeast infection..super gross.
Hopefully, I am in starting to get over it now...I guess this is not as uncommon as I thought.

This tumor is already big enough but growing now outside of the auditory canal, it does not give worse symptoms than before. It may need surgery when the symptoms will be worse than surgery outcomes. It has been there 17 years and perhaps longer before being discovered. It grows about 2 millimeters per years, so I expect it will be soon bad enough to make a decision. I have all the symptoms and my life is quite damaged by this.
I wish endoscopy rather than translab or other. Is it being done now?
Thanks, Antea..

Hey my chronic sinusitis peoples...
I went to my ENT (another one) today and he recommended that I get a CT scan of my sinuses which I got done today. I went to a homeopathic store down here in Los Angeles, CA and got some stuff for the sinusitis. I think it might be working:

1) New Chapter Sinus and REspiratory Time Tested Herbal Defense

2) SInuCheck by Soledum made by Enzymatic therapy

3) Sinus Relief Non-Drowsy by NatraBio

All homeopjathic medicines.

I'm trying these out to see if they work. I am also inhaling the steam essential oils of Clove Oil, CInnamon OIl, Thyme Oil from Sinus Doctor that I ordered online. YOu need a steam inhaler though if you use this. My symptoms are not so severe as what they were before. But I still have the idzziness, instability in my head and imbalance and sinus congestion, runy nose, and now heart palpitations. Please leave a post people of what's going on with your condition. I also came to the conclusion that it is the lack of oxygen getting to your brain that is causing the vertigo/dizziness/equilibrium problems feel like your walking on water ant the ground is unstable and your head is unstable and heart palpitations. It all makes sense.

Hi all, just to share my experience on the whole sinus and vertigo thing!.... i was admitted into hospital two years previous twice in two weeks an treated for acute vertigo but with no infection in the ear and doctors could not find a cause. 2 years previous i had suffered a very mild ear infection but with no vertigo. At the hospital, a CT was done to show up "nothing helpful" (as my doctor put it!) but a thickening of my right sinus. I was given Serc 16mg and stemetil and left for home. My symptoms persisted for THREE months and doctors put it down to stress. My GP was not satisfied with the diagnosis as i was only 21 at the time, and experiencing pain with the vertigo, so he got me a neurological referral. I seen the neurologist and within five minutes of being with him he told me that i was suffering from "Baslers type" migraines which are vestibular and will heighten my risk of stroke severley....i was 21!! That the decrease in blood pressure was somehow putting pressure on my inner ear and causing vertigo. He had a lot of extensive research on this and proceeded to show me his findings, naturally i thought this was great, a diagnosis at last. So i was put on a preventative to stop migraines but this did absolutely diddley squat but my GP made me stick with them for over a year. I moved home and transferred to another GP who had my files transferred. I went to her one afternoon as I was having severe vertigo symptoms also with severe headache and little or no ability to stand upright. She had a look at my notes and diagnosed me with sinusitis almost straight away. I had to agree as the only treatment that has work for me is that for sinuses and the headaches ALWAYS start in the same place - at my right sinus. She also explained that because my sinuses are not draining properly it is allowing for excess fluid to build in in the ear canal creating an unequal pressure in the ear which in turn creates vertigo like symptoms. She said that all other previous diagnoses' seemed to be way off the mark. Since my hospital admittance two years ago i was given an ENT appointment which I have on Thursday of this week....Finally!!! But the reason I write today is to say that since my initial bout of vertigo over two years ago, it has never fully gone away from me. Every single day i struggle with extremely poor balance, vertigo spins, dizziness, disorientation, severe earaches, and crippling headaches which always start funnily enough at the top of my nose in the right hand side....this is my problem sinus!! And another really strange symptom is that i have no balance whatsoever in the dark and physically cannot walk unaided....i must use a wall to guide me or another person, either that or crawl, it's so debilitating. I have to take some sort of decongestant early on in the day because if I don't I am crippled with pain in my head, mucus in my chest and unable to breathe nasally. But for those of you looking for a quick fix to your pain, as somebody already mentioned Pseudophedrine is absolutely fantastic, but you do need to take it early in the day if you want a good night's sleep. However in Ireland nasacort is prescription only, works well as a preventative but is not designed for long term use, and it is rather expensive too (€40 per bottle). Heat seems to do the job too, a hot cup of tea, resting in your mouth for a bit before you swallow, the heat on the roof of your mouth seems to free up the sinuses a bit somehow, and also steam helps. I am really hoping to get some treatment from my ENT appointment this week as I am so sick it all, and i really want to be able to fly. But I haven't even been able to walk up a hill without vertigo setting in halfway up!!.... I would love to hear if someone has had the same symptoms but has got some treatment and is in some way ahead of me in terms of their situation, i would love to hear!!.... I hope what I have said helps some people to cope with this horrible ilness. I'll update after my appointment with the ENT!!....xx

For my occasional vertigo I take Zyrtec, my Dr. thinks mine is caused from an inner ear issue, although I had no sinus symptoms, after taking it regularly it works for me. I'm an MRI technologist, and have had an MR scan and Dr.'s at my service, hope it works for you too.

I had a migraine last week and within last two days had three episodes of sensation of "falling" as if down an elevator shaft....not exactly dizziness or vertigo either...in the past I had had labyrinthitis (inner ear infection and vertigo) but the doctor says I just have mild sinusitis and gave me a Z-pack, Allegra, and Nasocort spray. And told me to rest too. It's working.

My blood pressure was slightly high but he felt that was due to the illness. I wonder if that and even a little low blood sugar might tie in with the other symptoms...in any event, a lot of people try to convince you that you have major horrible things going on....or that antibiotics don't work....but you'd be surprised how infected sinuses can make you miserable.

I too have spent my life plagued by chronic sinusitis. About ten years ago the vertigo started up. I have had the MRI, CAT scan, allergy testing on my back 2x, the patch test, and allergy tested my blood, chest x-rays, and respiratory testing. I have seen GPs, ENTs, allergists, and respiratory specialists. I've been put on a rotating list of nasal steroids, all to no avail. I too get angry about all the money these useless quacks have made off me. I'm saying this so that you won't feel alone and won't waste your time and money. I know that the vertigo and sinus problems are related, because I only get vertigo when my left sinus is plugged. I haven't been able to lean or roll to the left or sleep on my left side for four years. The doctors don't believe that the two are related. I recently had my middle turbinates reduced, and that helped the stuffiness on the right side, so I would recommend it as a quick and easy, painless outpatient procedure. I would sob tears of joy if I could find any doctor or medication that could cure this, so I'll take any and all recommendations. In the meantime, Claritin D helps when my symptoms are the worst. I've even recommended it to several people who only had vertigo, and every one of them said it got rid of it that same day!

Don't know if anyone still posts in this topic...I'm kinda new to all these feelings, i've been feeling dizzy and disorientated (almost like a drunk feeling) for 3 weeks now. I've had the headaches and pressure on the front and sides of my head its ridiculous! i've missed so much work because of this and i've got a CAT scan on Friday. It's been a comfort to hear of other people going through the same thing (in a weird way) i've been so worried about the whole thing. I just wondered how long, generally people felt dizzy etc for? and what happens after you have a CAT scan? I've had tablets for virtigo but they did nothing! this feeling is driving me mad now!!

I have had sinusitus since 2003 and had sinus surgery in 2004, the surgery revealed a broken bone under my left eye, it dropped
down into my sinus and blocked it, which backed the sinus fluid back into my head and filled it with fluid. I suffered with vertigo
constantly, until I started antibiotic treatment, but I have an additional affliction, because I also have type 1 diabetes using insulin,
It took a year to find a antibiotic that works well for me and the name of the antibiotic is CEFPROZIL, 500mg pills, twice a day for
15 days. My diabetes I believe has made it impossible so far to stop this infection, I recently had heart bypass surgery in May 2009,
and with the increased blood flow to my body, things have improved a little. But as far as my life, this sinusitus and the infections,
they have destroyed my life, bankrupted me, marital problems related to financial strain from not going to work for 3years.
No one believes it when you try to explain this problem, as you know, you are able to concentrate, you sleep all the time, fatigued
constantly, no energy, I was told by doctors that I must be depressed, and yes it is depressing to have this problem and not be
able to fix it. Im still fighting this problem and when and if I figure out how to cure sinusitus, I will post it.

After surgery for deviated septum, still have symptoms of chronic sinusitis as before. It seems the body is ultimately responsible for keeping inflammation down. You are better off using trial and error with your doctor to find something that works. Surgery seems to be overkill and doesn't necessarily fix anything.
