My best friend deals with this. She is very athletic but always bloated after the first or second meals. After doing some research, we have figured out that the bloat comes from food intolerance. Food intolerance is a minor form of being allergic to certain types of food. We figured out that gluten was the culprit to the late morning bloat. So, before taking any drastic diet changes, please google food intolerance! Many people suffer from it everyday.

I plan on calling my Doctor tomorrow. I eat very little..I have a lot of medical problems but I also am very thin 5'6 1/2 and weigh 112 lbs.
Yet my stomach is so bloated and protrudes out.
I know I don't eat enough, yet I feel naseaus most of the time.
I don't move my bowels regurarly...maybe that is bloating me up.
It is frustrating and makes me sad.....
Makes traveling difficult...
Could be food allergies..
I am recently widowed with 2 teens....strss is very high..
Could be that as well... :-(
Any suggestions are deeply appreciated.

I too suffer from bloating, gas, and adominal/pelvic discomfort. My stomach protrudes so bad that it looks like I'm 4-5 months pregnant. I used to have a bowel movement at least 2-3 times a day, but now I don't get one until 3 days and it looks diarrhea like too. It is sad to see that the majority of the doctors have difficulty diagnosing the problem to our bloating due to the wide possibilities. I did, however, unintentionally found a slight cure to the bloating when I was on my soup diet. The thing is, I can't stay on my soup diet for the rest of my life, so my bloating was only temporary cure. However, I guess I did figure out that the bloating was have something to do with my diet. I eat lots of junk, carbs, fatty foods etc.

ok you guys really need to get tested for worms. intestinal and stomach worms can cause a bloated stomach, do some research and look at the symptoms, and if some of them apply to you, you may have them. worms are much more common than most people think...about 50 % of people get worms at some time in their life, even in developed countries like the us. they can be present in food or water, and you can even get them from walking barefoot outside. get tested

I have worked backwords trying to figure this out for 8 months. It is candidiasis!!! It is a yeast overgrowth in the small intestine. Type this in and search and you will be back to normal in no time. You just need to follow a specific diet to starve the yeast and eat yogurt to replenish the good bacteria.

I'll let you all know what I learn from the doctor.

I am 5'1 1/2 and I weigh 100 lbs. I have this same exact problem and no matter how much i try to exercise it still looks like i'm 2-4 months pregnant. I really want to gain weight but all the fat just seems to go to my stomach. I HATE IT !!!!! I don't even look right in a bikini and i hate it so much. As a teen, I would like to show off my stomach in a bikini but i'm so embarrassed of it. And the worst part is that my butt is flat so with a big stomach it is not an attractive figure. I HATE IT !!!!! I HATE IT !!!!! I HATE IT !!!!! PLEASE HELP !!!!!

Hey Guys,

One person pointed out that this could be due to lack of protein, which is right.

I am studying nutrition right now and learned that only in a SEVERE case called kwashiorkor, one stomach bulges out even is they are really skinny. That is why a lot of kids in Africa and third world countries have pertruding stomachs, they do not have enought protein available to them.

Hey guys, okay I went to see a doctor about this, as I said I would. She said that I have hyperlordosis of the spine. My spine is curved inward, forcing my stomach to protrude outward, giving me a "pregnant" appearance. Google some images of this to see if it resembles any of you. Anyway, she told me that it can be corrected through yoga and pilates - or even home exercises using the pelvic tilt exercise. If the exercises are done daily, then we should see straighter posture - and a flatter stomach - in a couple of months.

But that is what she said about ME. Each and every one of you should visit your doctor to make sure that there isn't a more serious condition that would involve other kinds of treatment.

Good luck. And like I said - I encourage you to visit your doctor.

I had been a semi-dedicated vegan (still occasionally had my fish) for the past two years and never had an issue with bloating. I am now back to my meat eating and cheese diet but I have found that my stomach is doing the same thing that everyone has been mentioning. I have read that meat (especially red meat) remains in your system for quite awhile and tends to rot so it can be digested better--perhaps this may be the case.

Perhaps it's Celiac Disease. It can be detected with a blood test and if antibodies are present it's confirmed via endoscopy. Best wishes.

to be honest i think if you really looked and asked everyone they would all say they have it... and the reason is that it's how a woman's body is and is perfectly normal.... but nowadays with all this airbrushing everyone thinks it isn't... while it's annoying and can be frustrating you have to try and be proud and not worry about it.... and do lots of sit ups :-)
