My point is I think that by taking vitamins, your giving your body to much at once. Your throwing pure vitamins into your system and your body may already have what it needs and not want it to come so powerful. Hence the fact that you have to take vitamins with food, then your body has time to separate and disperse what it needs and send everything where it needs to be. So I think I get stomach aches because you shouldn't be taking vitamins, especially multivitamins. If you lacking iron, take a iron pill if you must but try to eat more food with iron. If your lacking potassium, same thing. Plus you will get a better source of what you need if you take it straight from the food it comes from.:-)
I hope this all makes sense.:-)
Your body is like the engine of a car, just more complex. If you add to much of anything it will damage the engine and the car wont run properly.
Also if you take more than one, like I do, take them throughout the day and not all at once. I learned my lesson the hard way :-)
You must listen to your body... find the vitamins in the foods you eat!
Copied IRON-CONTAINING MULTIVITAMINS In addition to the potential for allergic reactions, use of multivitamins that contain iron can trigger minor stomach upset, as well as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea and discolored or dark stools, . If stomach upset or other symptoms bother you or occur regularly, ask your doctor for advice. In some cases, use of iron-containing multivitamins can also trigger more serious side effects, including stomach pain, stomach cramping, tarry or black stools, bloody vomit and persistent vomiting, diarrhea or nausea. If you experience any form of these effects, get medical attention immediately. PRENATAL MULTIVITAMINS Prenatal multivitamins can contain a number of minerals, including iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium. These minerals can trigger symptoms that include stomach bleeding, increases in urine output, confusion, abnormal heartbeat, muscle weakness and staining of your teeth. If you take too much of a prenatal multivitamin, you can potentially develop symptoms that include stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, severe back pain, bloody urine and joint or muscle pain. Excessive consumption of prenatal multivitamins can also harm the health of your developing child.
Try taking your vitamins right before you go to bed, I had to do this when I was pregnant with my prenatal vitamins or I'd be MISERABLE all day long! Taking them with a cup of milk also helps. I just recently switched from centrum pills to adult chewable vitamins (the gummy kind) and chewable calcium supplements and haven't had a stomach pain since! I definitely recommend them!
Was taking vitamin for women 50 and up. Each time I'd get sick to the stomach, lasting about an hour. I decided to give up on the vitamin after my stomach ached so bad I was crawling on hands and knees to get to the bathroom. I made it to the sink and vomited the already dissolved vitamin. Began to feel better within in a few minutes.
I take a multi without iron (seniors) and I still have stomach distress. This occurs with some other supplements as well. My gastro doc tells me I am taking too many and the fillers they have in them may be causing my problems. Try finding a multi without fillers. I found one but it contains soy which I can't take.
