Hi, Apr 2010, fsh score was very high, in reproductive failure area high. Took vitex for 4 months, lost 10 lbs, and then FSH was in high fertility area. Did have some meds as well to help get pregnant, but having really good FSH was a major factor in me then getting pregnant. Had twins in 2011. Have faith. Good luck.

I want to say thank you to all of you for posting such personal situations. I too was diagnosed with pcos after having a live birth and 4 miscarriages. I believed I was being punished. I went to a fertility doctor and he got me on a great regimen and I had my second live birth. It ever come to mind I'd have any more children. I began working out again, eating right, on my medications along with birth control, and lost 40 pounds. I conceived again UNEXPECTEDLY. I now have 3 children that I thought would never happen 10 yrs old, 3yrs old, and 6 months old. It can happen believe me. I am now beginning to have my old problems again so I was looking for something all natural. I'm sure going to look into this and will re-post with my results. Don't be discouraged, research to find the right technique.

I agree with the lifestyle change. I lost 40 lbs before I was able to conceive  through injectable drugs and iui. I am hoping to lose another 20 lbs. I never stopped exercising and eating a low glycemic diet. This time around I am adding Vitex with my multivitamin, fish oil, aspirin, and hoping to conceive naturally. Good luck to all. If you put the work in, you will succeed!

How much Vitex do you take daily? I've been diagnosed with PCOS as well and haven't ovulated since we conceived my son almost 2 years ago. Picked up some Vitex to start taking to help my body regulate but the capsules are only 80mg each and everywhere I am reading online says to take 1000mg/day.

I take Vitex as well and they are 500mg so I take 1 capsule twice a day. How much you need to take all depends on the dosage of your pills. Since yours are 80mg, you will need to take more per day. If you go on the iherb.com site, you can order a stronger dosage! That is where I order mine from. The brand I get is this one: Planetary Herbals, Vitex Extract, Full Spectrum, 500 mg, 120 Tablets $10.07

If you decide to order, here is a coupon code for $5 off your order: BUZ548

I currently take Vitex, Dong Quai, Saw Palmetto, and Yarrow Root.

For those of you with fertility problems, you can also take Evening Primrose oil, false unicorn, red clover blossom, flaxseed oil, and nettle leaves.

Milk thistle is also said to be useful for PCOS. For those with heavy periods, lady's mantle works wonders!! If you can't find capsules, tinctures work just as well!

I also have PCOS and I was diagnosed with it when I was 18 and I am 32 now. I have been with my husband for 11 years and we want more then anything to start a family. Every time has been unsuccessful. I had no idea of this herbal medicine till today. I am so grateful I googled Clomid and found out about Vitex. I ordered mine today and will start it next week.  I sure hope this works. I have read many positive stories. I will find out for myself. Good luck to all who suffers from the annoying PCOS.

Great! Thanks for the information. It is nice to find a website that will ship to Canada. That is the biggest problem I have had.  Most websites only ship to the USA.  My naturopath sells the 500mg capsules, but it's a different brand and it's $40 for 1 bottle!!!! So thank you so much again for this information. I really appreciate it!

My diet is already super clean (absolutely no sugar of any kind and nothing that can convert to sugars quickly in my body like starchy foods for 6/7 days per week) and I exercise on a daily basis. So far I've lost 10Lbs of fat and gained 0.29Lbs of muscle in the last 50 days. I took a much lower dose of the 80mg vitex and I thought it helped, but my Ob-gyn said my progesterone levels were still too low and that I didn't ovulate. So I upped the dosage to 520mg per day this time and we'll see what happens. I used to have a somewhat regular cycle when I was younger, so I really suspect the PCOS was brought on by the little extra fat I am carrying (only about 15Lb). I guess my body is just very sensitive.

Thanks again for the info about the other herbs as well!

I have PCOS, always have had period problems, haven't had a regular period on 10 years except for a hand full of times it was induced with provera. My DH and I have been ttc for 8 years with no avail. i've gone to fertility specialist, clomid didn't work. Of course they always recommend losing weight, but its nearly impossible with PCOS. I started taking vitex on May 21st, I got my first period in 10 years on June 16th. it was a normal 5 day cycle. i am so excited, this a lone is a miracle.

I agree! I started taking 1000mg per day of vitex and I finally ovulated as well. Progesterone levels were quite high too which I wasn't expecting to hear. I had been taking gelatinized maca for 6 months before I even started the Vitex, and I found that really helped me to start losing the weight. It gave me more energy which in turn allowed me to start working out. I then started to incorporate high frequency training and that's when I started to see results! I basically would face the wall and do 20 squats (facing the wall forces you to have proper form) or 10 pushups on the counter several times per day, AND every day, usually right before I eat. It only took me about ONE minute TOTAL to do the exercises each time. Doesn't sound like much but it works wonders and it's a great starting point that will keep you motivated! :-)

I had also cut out all sugars (including fruits with exception of tomatoes and avocados), and cut out breads, pasta, rice and potatoes (including sweet potatoes) and all dairy. I started eating a tonne more vegetables, salads and legumes (beans) along with chicken, beef, eggs and I finally started dropping weight! For the first time ever, it almost felt easy to lose the extra weight I had. It was incredible and very motivating too! My goal was to just cut out the sugars only for a week, but I felt so good not eating all those extra things that I just kept it up!

Then I found out about Mike Mahler! He is a wealth of information and a super sweet guy! My husband and I met him when we did his kettlebell workshop and he also gave us a lecture on hormone optimization! He is a hormone optimization researcher as well as a kettlebell trainer. You can get more info from his site.

Search for articles relating to Leptin and insulin. He's really helped us put a lot of things into perspective as to how our bodies work and by having this knowledge, we were able to begin correcting our physical problems. :-)

Hope all this helps and good luck to you!
