Hi! My brother is having the same problem and I believe it is because of the same reason- stress. I don't know how to help him though, any suggestions?

My daughter has the same problem. The later she sleeps in the less it happens. If I get her up early for school then by the time she gets to schools she vomits the phlegm and she is fine the rest of the day.

When do you take your Nexium? It seems to help me too BUT since I take mine in the morning it seems like when the next morning comes around I'm still vomiting and nauseated or like something is caught in my throat.

It does. I bounce back and forth from Cleveland Ohio to Oregon and California. Never have a problem on the west coast. Very strange but true. Really need a solution it is starting to burn my throat so bad people can barely hear me when I speak. Good luck

There are so many things this could be. I have Salicylate and Histamine Intolerance (self diagnosed, but the puzzle is all there). Could be caused by SIBO or just a messed up gut. Have the eczema and itchy bumps from hades, all of it.

Nobody has mentioned insane itching before vomiting sometimes. Especially if the vomit is the acidic kind, or if I eat something and my stomach bloats like crazy and then I vomit, those 2 scenarios I will itch like a mad person beforehand.

But yes, I am living this hell as well. Yes, brushing teeth triggers copious mucus vomiting if my stomach is already full of it. Been living this hell for over 20 years. Yes, stress is a factor, but lots of people are stressed and don't deal with this c**p.

And i agree that weed helped at first. I did micro-doses. Heck, they were nano-doses. I vaped in the morning and it would dry me out so beautifully before work. It would calm my nerves, or maybe my Vagus nerve, or my whole system (I'm sure some was placebo) but then it stopped being as effective.

Ok guys. I revisited a prescription I've had. It's called Atrovent (I have the generic brand called ipratropium bromide). It's a nasal spray. It is a bronchial dilator which opens up the nasal passages, lungs, everything. I've been using it 3 days now, and these are the only 3 days (and in a row) that I haven't vomited clear THICK mucus profusely in the shower, during brushing my teeth, and after the shower. It's not 100%, but the difference is big. And what a welcome relief to feel my HEAD/sinus decompress. You don't realize the pain and discomfort you are in until it's gone ("Oh, is THAT how I'm supposed to feel!? No wonder I'm exhausted all the dang time!!").

Most people found miraculous relief.. a lot of people whose noses run while they eat (yup). There are a bunch of specific reviews at webmd - look up "ipratropium bromide". Stress and agitation, even just a momentary thought will activate what's called the Vagus Nerve and spin your body into releasing mucus. The Vagus Nerve controls your autonomic nervous system or something like that, and this med works to calm it or something. All I know is, it has helped A LOT. My personal issue always is, after day 3-4 of ANY med, my body starts to get bad side effects and I have to stop. I have a lot of food intolerances, eczema, etc, so my system is already sensitive.

So, if anybody gets this med (prescription) please let me/us know how it worked for you! I think you will be surprised. GOOD LUCK!

Oh, and I DON'T do meds. Only Children's Benadryl or Zyrtec, and only baby amounts of them, just FYI. So for me to try this med is a big deal.

I have this same issue, too! Started 4 months ago. I'm gagging on my food, and I lost 20 lbs because of it and I'm already tiny! I use a toothbrush to make myself gag up the phlegm.

By the way, the few people who suggested that MJ helps were spot on. I noticed it helps if you do a teeny-tiny bit in the morning when you wake up (maybe with your coffee or whatever). It instantly dries you out, and calms your nerves. But stress always has a way to eventually override everything.
