I almost immediately put on about 15 pounds following prostrate surgery with keeping up exercise and watching what i am eating. Other than this forum, i cant find any comments or medical reference that this might occur.

I had my robotic surgery in November of 2016. I have gained over 25 pounds and have a belly that looks like I am going to give birth. My doctor just tells me to eat less.

I had a prostectomy 7 years ago, in 2010. I did experience weight gain and discussed it with my Urologist who said digestive issues are not normally considered in relation to enlarged prostates. My theory: the blocked lower intestine function begins to function normally after removal of an enlarged prostate leading to a bigger appetite and better bowel movements. Also body hair doubled in size!

I've gained over 30 lbs since I finished chemo for bladder cancer in June of 2018. I was down to 178 and am now 210lbs. I was 180 lbs when I was 18 years old in the Marine Corps and was 190 most of my adult life. This weight gain came upon me with such suddenness it's frightful. Almost worse than the bladder cancer that started all of this. After reading how many of you guys have experienced the same as me, I'm particularly disappointed in my urologist surgeon who's only comment regarding my weight gain has been" Well,it's better than you having lost weight". Maybe it is but again until I found this site, I thought I was alone. So NOW what do I/WE do about it? Thanks for reading. Deacon

Rsadical prostatechtomy age 64 August 2020. PSA less than 0.1 since. From 165 lbs, regular 2-3 mile runs + weights, to 190-195 lbs today. Gained 10 lbs with coronavirus layoff, back to the gym 3 days a week; weight routine (30-45 min. bench, shoulder pulldowns, press & shrugs, curls, rowing), modified treadmill + elliptical, if I run it's on grass and intervals only, sore feet and knees. I've learned to live with my never had before gut, so long's I'm in good shape otherwise. Same diet, 1-2 meals daily may include carbs: chips, sandwiches and fries.
