I had an ablatîon 5 years ago and gained 15 lbs that year and more since. My ob/gyn said the weight gain is not related to the ablation but I am sure it is. I think the doctors are covering for Novasure. There are tons of these blogs and there is never an answer of how to lose the weight. There should be an investigation.

I also never gained wait before ablation. Since ablation in December of 2009 I have gained 25 lbs even though I eat same as always. I have went thru hell the past three years because of this procedure....what started out as cramping pain quickly progressed to the most severe pain I have ever felt pain that often left me crying on the floor praying to die!!! No so called Dr. could seem to find the reason for this pain even though I being a nurse KNEW it was caused from Ablation. Now that I have health insurance the Drs. have suddenly found the reason for this pain. My extremly enlarged uterus that is full of fluid because cervix is so scarred is the reason for the pain hmmmm imagine that....Good news I am scheduled for a hysterectomy the last of this month :)

I too had the surgery 2012 and I have never had a problem losing weight. I gained 19 lbs after the surgery and have been doing everything under the sun to lose for the last 5 months I lost 15 the first 2 months and it's like my weight during the surgery was frozen...I CAN NOT lose past the amount I weighed at the time of the surgery. This has GOT to be listed as a side effect so women will know going into the surgery what to expect. All of us CANT be a coincidence! I saw a nutritionist so I stick to the 1200 calorie diet, I work out regularly, I drink the right amout of water. MY BODY WON'T DO WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO ANYMORE! My thyroid has been checked, I am not a diabetic. There is no other reason. Does it stop our metabolism...please tell us the truth

Oh my gosh- I can't believe what I am reading! I had my endometrial ablation in 2006 at the age of 50 due to ridiculously heavy periods. I am now 58 and have gained 35-40 pounds- all in my stomach area! If I had known that this was a side effect, I would have found another way to deal with the periods until I naturally went through menopause. This is disgusting to find out now.

I am so sad for all of us yet feel a little better knowing that I am not alone. I too had my procedure a few months ago and have gained at least 10 lbs. I go to the gym regularly, eat 1200 calories and keep on gaining. There has to be a solution.. If someone finds it please please plesase post!

It is so concerning that not a single doctor, not even mine, attributes tis terrible weight gain to the ablation. I agree there must be a cover up and i was never told of this possible side effect. There has to be an answer and a fix but if they are covering up they will never treat this. I had my ablation 8 or 9 years ago and i have never been able to get back to my pre surgery weight.

Comment after comment of the exact same side effects I've experienced since my ablation November 2014. Have ALWAYS been active, ALWAYS eaten healthy, NEVER had a problem with weight - I'm now 15 pounds overweight, stomach growing more by the minute, diet and exercise to no avail. There is no way in hell that the experiences of all these women are coincidence, especially when ALL these different women are saying the SAME DAMN THING. The reason I chose this procedure in the first place is that I didn't want to gain weight by going on birth control. I was very clear in telling my doctor that I specifically wanted a procedure that DID NOT cause weight gain! I researched and researched before I had it done, and there is NOTHING, NO STATEMENT by ANYONE, that a possible side effect is weight gain. It is an OUTRAGE that this side effect has not been stated upfront by doctors and by the companies that manufacture the equipment/supplies used in this procedure. If anyone on this site is an attorney or knows one that does class action suits, I would be happy to join one.

I had the ablation done 4 1/2 years ago. I too have gained about 20 lbs. I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life, even during my three pregnancies!
Last August I started experiencing major pelvic pain, radiating throughout my hips and lower back. I wound up in the ER, they diagnosed me with a bladder infection and UTI, but the radiologist told me my uterus was inflamed and I needed to follow up with my Gyno (who did my ablation). Did that. He said it looked fine.
Pain in hips and lower back continued for months. Went to my regular doctor, he prescribed me medication for fibromylgia. Never did the pressure test for it though. Pain will continued, went to orthopedic doctor, said I strained my back. Started PT. Then MRI, showed nothing out of the ordinary. Continued PT, through January 2015.
Mind you my pain started early fall of 2014. I started taking Aleve daily, the meds for the fibromylgia didn't work. I literally couldn't turn over in bed without crying the pain was so bad.
In March 2015, I woke up at 4am in horrible pain, in tears. My fiance brought me an Aleve. Later that morning around 9am, I went to the restroom and noticed I had started to spot. I had spotted off and on after the ablation, but before this time, I hadn't spotted since last summer. Once I started spotting the pain in my lower back and hips subcided. Was it coincidence? Hmmm...
I was already scheduled for my annual at the end of March (also I changed gyno's throughout this as well). During my doctor visit, he asked me about my ablation, how it was "working for me". I told him I thought good, but explained some of pains I had been having, with my back. Explained the CT scan in September, the UTI, bowel issues, MRI, PT for back, and especially about the pain stopping when I started spotting earlier in March.
He immediately had his nurse get the sonogram ready. He did the vaginal sonogram, and it immediately concluded that my uterus is "absorbing" the blood that can't escape because of the ablation. He told me it's only going to get worse, as long as my body still sheds. I just turned 46. He doesn't expect me to go through menapause for many years yet.
I am scheduled for a partial hysterectomy at the end of June.
My regular physician agrees that once I have my surgery, the pain and weight should go away.
Good luck ladies! I hope my experience helps.

was wondering if anyone else had experienced a large weight gain after having ablation surgery. I had my surgery in September 2006, and since then I have gained about 50lbs that I can't seem to loose. I have had my thyriod tested, and been tested for diabetes. Both tests came back normal.
Any knowledge of this will be helpful. Thanks!
