Today (7-25-17) has been 2 weeks since the ablation. I look like im 6 months pregnant. Before the surgery my stomach was extremely flat. I had a tummy tuck and liposuction done 8 years ago. Even if I gained weight, it would never be in my stomach. But now my stomach is so distended. I KNOW IT'S FROM THE ABLATION! Im so discoraged and depressed. Had I known this was gonna happen I would of never went through with the ablation.

I'm currently in the process of exploring options including uterine ablation. One of the warnings my gynecologist expressed is that my body will experience the "normal" premenopausal systems. Although not actually going to ever experience true menopause, your body internally will suffer through many of the symptoms. Weight gain is one of them due to hormonal imbalances.
Hope this helps. Maybe have an in-depth discussion with your doctor.

Everything you're saying is what I'm going through now. I'm going on for a partial in Jan and really hope it works for me.
Did it work for you?

No period - the inability to shed the water bloat that takes place before and during the period is what is causing the weight gain. Your body still goes through the normal cycle each month prepping your body for the blood letting ceremony. Because a decision was made to take that function away, the body is unable to shed the excess water that naturally occurs monthly, thus each month the body continues to accumulate the water bloat/gain that cannot be naturally eliminated like pre-ablation - having a period or prescription water pills is the only solution.

If you have fluid retention before you menstruate, for the 5 days before your period take a daily dose of 100mg of vitamin B6. The vitamin is a diuretic, which means it helps you to excrete more urine, thus reducing your body's water content. It also helps to balance a woman's estrogen and progesterone levels. You can increase your intake of vitamin B6 throughout the month by eating more spinach, fish, poultry, chickpeas, avocados and bananas. (Caution: Don't take any of the B vitamins in isolation–take a B complex. And if you have tingling in your fingers or toes, stop taking B6 immediately.)

Get more magnesium. Studies show that women with PMS-related water retention experience relief from this and other symptoms when they take supplemental magnesium. Magnesium also relieves menstrual abdominal bloating. A suggested dose would be 200-400mg daily.

i had my ablation done in July 2017 and have gained weight despite healthy diet and exercise. I'm told it has nothing to do with the surgery, but I beg to differ as I am at my heaviest weight.

I had the essure (sterilization) procedure done (with NO problems) many years before my ablation, which was done a year ago. I have gained 30 pounds since the ablation!!! Had I known about this, I wouldn't have had it done. It's impossible for me to lose the weight. I am now 40 and my normal weight is 145-150. I have maintained this weight for the past 12 years, with light exercise and non-restrictive diet. Now I'm back to my heaviest weight, 180. I am so sick about it!!!!
