I had the procedure done 3 years ago & have gained 10kg (im in Australia) i too have tried several ways to lose weight including jenny craig & body trim which has given me fast results in the past. I am still slowly gaining! It's ridiculous. I can only manage to lose 2 kg then it just goes back up. I am miserable

OMG! I'm so glad I found this! I thought my age was catching up with me!
I'll be 37 on Wednesday! I had a few polyps removed as well as an ablasion about 6 mos ago. I've since gained about 10lbs. I didn't read too much about side effects as my only concern/goal was to rid my monthly cycles.
I guess this is why its always important to read the fine print : (

I have an appointment with my obgyn tomorrow. I'll see what her thoughts are.

I had mine done 7 months ago. Best thing I ever did. no more periods,no period pains, no bloating, no PMT and NO weight gain whatsoever. I am 38 and was worried about weight gain but my DR said most people who have this Op are older and more menopause age and it would be menopause age that would put on the weight (?) I dont know but it was the best thing I have ever done and for the first time in my life i have a flat stomach!

I had an ablation in Nov of 2015 and I have steadily gained weight since. I haven't done anything to gain this kind of weight and I have tried all kinds of things to lose it. I have a theory and I'm wondering if it makes sense. I'm thinking this could be a result from estrogen absorbtion. We produce estrogen to thicken the lining but now that lining does not thicken, or very little depending on your success, so it does not leave the body. I would think it would be reabsorbed and filtered again through the liver. I found a few supplements called DIM and I3C which are supposed to aid in blocking bad estrogens and estrogen metabolism so I'm going to see if those make any difference. I'm no doctor though so does this theory sound plausible?

I thought it was just me. I had an ablation in February of 2016. My only complaints are the weight gain. I had been losing weight steadily before the ablation but after the ablation the weight loss stopped and I started gaining weight and feeling cramps and bloating. I don't want to have a hysterectomy. I had the ablation to try to avoid that but it looks like that is my only other choice?

I had an ablation in april of 2016 and gained ten pounds within a month or three weeks. I also had other symptoms for five months and now after doing a ton of research I am going to have a hysterectomy. What happened is my uterus was cauterized causing scar tissue. Every month I still have a period but I bleed behind the scar tissue and it gets trapped in the uterus and can backspread to the fallopian tubes. Please read the following. So I an scheduled in a month for a hysterectomy. \
:At first, total endometrial ablation seemed extremely safe in the short term. However, as time passed, certain unique long-term complications became evident. The problem is that after this procedure, intrauterine scarring and contracture can occur. Any bleeding from persistent or regenerating endometrium behind the scar may be obstructed and cause problems such as central hematometra, cornual hematometra, postablation tubal sterilization syndrome, retrograde menstruation, and potential delay in the diagnosis of endometrial cancer. The incidence of these complications is probably understated because most radiologists and pathologists have not been educated about the findings to make the appropriate diagnosis of cornual hematometra and postablation tubal sterilization syndrome. This review will thoroughly discuss how to diagnose and treat these problems. Possible ways of preventing these long-term complications will also be discussed

Sadly, things have not changed and they have not updated any side effects or warnings. And Drs are still say saying that the extra weight is not linked to the procedure. I had my procedure in June of this year. To date I've gained about 30 lbs. As with most of you I also made my concern about weight gain to the dr very clear before surgery. This is awful.
