Nope! I had ablation after already having tubal Essure procedure done so I did not have the merina insert and I did in fact gain 30 pounds post ablation. It has been very hard getting/keeping it back off.

I just had my ablation in August and have gained 20 lbs since then with regular exercise and good diet. Have you found anything that has worked for you ? I'm very frustrated to say the least

I also had weight gain after my ablation surgery lastJune and it seemed no matter what I did the weight would not come off. Would just keep adding up. I gained about 25lbs. When I looked into it, it seemed as though the cause was similar to the reason women gain weight in menopause. I now eat what I would say is about a 90% clean diet. Very little processed food. I also drink a lot of green tea and exercise daily on top of my physical job. I am proud to say that I have managed to lose 20lbs and am in the best shape of my life. Look into weight gain in menopause for more information.

I had an ablation on 12/1/15 and to date 5/6/16 I have gained 15 pounds. I'm constantly bloated with lots of embarrassing gas and abnormal bowels. I've also had an increase in cystic acne. There has been a major change in hormones. I tend to be very moody and depressed and my hair keeps falling out and is getting very thin. My levels have been checked and I don't have any thyroid or hormone abnormalities. I'm very happy that I don't have the excessive bleeding and cramping anymore. The bleeding was so bad that I couldn't even leave my bathroom some days. So I guess the trade off is worth it for me since I don't have periods anymore so far, but it would've been nice to know that these side effects would come about.

Ablation DOES affect your hormones, but we are lead to believe otherwise:

Yes I experienced weight gain. I had my surgery Oct 2015 and have gained 25lbs since....it's now April 2016. I went back to my gynecology Dr that did the surgery and told her I thought it was due to the surgery and she basically dismissed me...however I believe there is a connection considering my weight was fine for years before this surgery.

I'm happy to read these comments. I had my Ablation in 2014 and have gained weight since and yes, I look pregnant and have belly fat that hangs over my pants. It feels like a rock at times and is somewhat uncomfortable. I am 5'9, weighed 125, now I'm easily 150-160. I used to wear a size 2, now I'm lucky if size 8 is right. YUK, I wished I never had the procedure.

I am so thankful that I came across this post! I had the ablation done 10-30-16, gained 20+ pounds and am continuing to gain. I am in training for a 1/2 marathon in June and cross-train 2-3X per week. I've never had a weight issue, I'm 46. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any solutions on here besides recommending dietary changes which most seem to have healthy habits/ clean eating already. Very frustrating. The procedure went well but I would rethink it would I have known the outcome with the weight issue.

I hate to toot the same horn but...toot toot! In a way, I'm relieved to have stumbled across this forum - I didn't know what happened. I've had my thyroid and sugars tested; my doc even put me on Topamax to help me lose weight, which is typically used for migraines. Nothing. At 47, I've been a solid size 8 most of my adult life. I had the ablation done in November 2014. I've gained 30 lbs and like everyone else, it's most prominent in my stomach area and will not budge despite valiant effort. I've struggled with body dysmorphia my whole life and I gotta tell you, this has turned me into a near hermit and a crazed one at that. I can't look at myself in the mirror, my sex life is almost non-existent, and my poor understanding but deprived husband is near wit's end watching me cry about it everyday. This is an OUTCRY. I would have opted for a traditional hysterectomy or explored other options - I was specifically told weight gain was not a side effect. Class action? Sign me up.
