I would like to know how often can you find salmonella bacteria on fresh, store bought, chicken eggs and lizard (in my case, leopard gecko) droppings. I'm 15 years old and I want to know the risks of owning a gecko. I have had it for 5 years now and my mom keeps scaring me that I'll get salmonella poisoning if I don't wash my hands 5 times after handling him. Also, I have to wash eggs with soap before I can prepare them.
