My 21 year old son has had white stools for the past two days. I would like to know what causes this and is it serious. Sould I be taking him into the Dr.?
I believe that your son is dealing with a lack of bile in his stool. That is the most common cause when we are talking about kids. Also, this may indicate a bile duct obstruction. Also, you should know that certain medications, such as large doses of bismuth subsalicylate (Kaopectate, Pepto-Bismol) and some other drugs can cause white stool.
Is your kid using some medications?
Of course that you should take him to the doctor, because those reasons that I have wore in here are minor. I don't know what dangerous issue this can cause, but it doesn't cost a thing to see your doc.
