I've had this and am experiencing it now. The rheumatoid doc told me it's psoriatic arthritis, however, I'm having a hard time believing that. I do have Raynaud's disease, but these symptoms are swelling and itching. The itching is on the surface between the joints. I keep thinking it feels more like an allergic response.

I'm currenlty suffering from the exact same thing.. it startex to happen about 4 to 5 years ago on the exact same time each year.. whenever winter comes ( usually they appear on either december or january), what happens is around my knuckles i get these little bumps that continue growing and get crazy itchy, hot and painful and my fingers start to swell.. i have looked it up online and it said its cause of the cold and stress... in which im experiencing right now. i have read that you shouldnt put warm or hot water even if it feels good, the itch will come back even worse, so its better to apply hand creams and put cold water to ease the itch.
it usually lasts around 3 weeks to 1 month... and it disappears like it never happened.
my mom told me she used to have them when she was young around winter time as well .

Me too and I wanted to know if it was something I touch, but now I can get them anywhere and it’s painful. It’s like a itch on the inside of my skin along with a throb and after awhile my fingers swell up and turns red.

But there is no itch in erytrhromelalgia.

I had to google this because this is a debate between me and my mom. This same thing happens to me when I go into certain stores, thrift stores, Gabriel Brothers, and a few others. It's as I can be walking around NOT touching anything, I make sure I dont; but then I'll get give-like bumps and then my fingers turn red and swell as if I have fluid. It's like really weird. I'll have to take Benedryl. My mother says it's all in my mind, ( I hate those stores and understanably so) and thats why I have the symptoms. Thank you for confirming I'm not alone.

I also experience the same thing when I am in particular stores, Gabriel Brothers, Thrift stores and a few others. I also experience when I am walking around the track at our local school. It's really weird. I'm wondering if it's a circulation issue. However, it only happens on very rare occasions, the store thing has me completely stumped. It's kind of to good to know it's not in my mind and I'm not alone.
