I'm also having this problem and i wanted to check out on internet about it and here i am.. well, i've got it last year in March for first time, have lasted almost for two months, and now, after year and a half, it's back again. It starts with one finger and it spreads on the other fingers, fisrt with mild pain, than comes the swoling with biger pain already and it's itchy only when i warm my hands. The worst is in the morning when i wake up, my fingers are so swollen and in such a pain that i can not move them, during the day it gets better. The pain feels like my bones hurt. I haven't gone to doctor this time yet but last year she have said that i must keep my hands in warm watter and keep them warm all the time and have gave me some liquid to wash them with. I'm trying to remember what activities i have done last year and what food i have eaten and compare with what i do and eat now, maybe i'll find the cause. It could also be the wetter, the cold ( i hate winter ), stress, nerves.. However, the posts above were useful to read and knowing that i am not alone makes it already better :)

Any thing to help reduce the itchiness? Doctors don't know a thing about this.

Hello all, this is for anyone still battling this annoying condition. I have been having itchy, red, swollen fingers and toes every winter for the past 4 or 5 years now and I started researching and found this condition called Chilblains... I think you all should check it out:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilblains I understand it is very irritating, and I too had days where I found it hard to walk (and I had to travel to school and back!!). I tried going to the GP as my brother had a similar problem, but the GP had nothing to say about our fingers and toes! Hope this helped!! :)

Hello everyone, I myself have had this problem which started 5 years ago and was given recommendation to visit a specialist for this incident. After I had taken a blood test it was shown that I had Chiblains, a condition in which my fingers get swollen and very itchy especially during the winter time. They recommended that I keep my fingers and toes warm at all times and constantly "excercise" my fingers to improve circulation. But this abnormality can also be confused with Raynaud's phenomenon in which blood flow is severely decreased. I am not entirely sure about the difference, but if I were to guess, Raynauds your finger changes color to imitate that of frostbites. To sum this all up the swollen, itchy fingers can be either Chiblains or Raynaud's phenomenon (others I dont know) and recommendation is keeping fingers and toes warm + "exercise" (moving) your fingers constantly (I found moving very helpful). I hope that helps you guys figure it out, but it is best if you visit a doctor. *Sorry about the long post, I tried to keep it short as possible*

I can be minor frostbite if you've been out in the cold, or similar tissue damage.

I just got this problem, I'm an asian male 29 years old and it is currently super hot summertime here. It is only 1 pinky finger but it isn't going away and I'm worried, when I wake up it seems tiny bit better but by mid day it swells back.

The one thing I had noticed is that I recently had a lot of stress. People these days probably are used to their schedules but might be stressed quite a bit without being too conscious of it.

I'm not too sure, but thought I'd add my data in here as well since doctors are stupid and clueless and we have to figure this out.

I'm praying it's a bug bite, there is a tiny lump like a bug bite, but it's not going away like a normal bug bite should.

Maybe it's the GMO foods.....

I too get this from time to time. Lastnight it happened after I moved some heavy objects. My hands started itching and now this morning my pinky finger is swollen and red. This affects my palms and fingers. Sometimes it comes on for no reason but most of the time it happens when I pick up and move objects.

I just a couple of days ago smashed my middle finger on my left hand moving furniture and now my whole hand is swollen and super itchy. Other than my finger, my hand has no discoloration or any bumps or anything of that nature just swollen and really itchy
