Could it be suppressed anxiety? Stress and anxiety were listed as potential causes. Maybe you are subconsciously anxious about the mall. That's the only thing I can think of. I have the same itchy/swelling problem. After reading through some of the questions I have linked my problem to stressful days at work. It always happens to me when I sit down to relax at night. I'm no Doctor so I could be way off base - but I see more questions that support it answers out here.

Thanks for that. It drives me crazy. I will put ice on it. It will itch maddingly for a minute while the ice is on then stop completely. I have to do this a couple of times. I also crush benadryl and mix with my coconut oil and apply it. it worked at first but now not so much I'm glad to know that alcohol may work.

What is this condition called?

I experince this as well, but it only seems to happen when I got to Walmart! My hands become excruciatingly itchy, red, and swollen. I usually take a benadryl when I get home. I just assumed it was an allergic reaction to Wally World!

Same happens to me in store like Home Depot, lowes or the garden center of Walmart!!!!

May be coincidence for me but I was in Target yesterday when suddenly my index and middle finger on my left hand started to itch badly. Within minutest fingers were swollen like balloons. I freaked out and went to an Urgent Care. Doc told me to make an appointment with PCP to have tests done, as I've also developed swelling in my right foot (a few days before Target/hand swelling though). She suggested either a thyroid issue or rheumatoid arthritis. :| I hope not but with the pain I've had in my knees and wrists lately I guess it wouldn't surprise me if I'm diagnosed with RA. Btw I'm only 27.

There are places that have scents pumped through their air vents. I think its a terrible idea due to allergies. This is possibly the cause!

I have this similar problem too, all the time. I think it may just be simply because of the water itself if I am not mistaking. I feel like it may be some nerve reaction in your brain that is triggered. I'm not really a scientist, but I believe this is what it is.

I get this too!! Anytime I go to a grocery or department store and touch things my fingertips swell up, turn red, and itch like crazy! I'm wondering if it's an allergy thing and I'm not sure what it is I'm reacting to..

I feel the same way. Sometimes I get to the point where they itch and then slightly swell on their own. My whole doesn't swell. Just the spots that get the itchy sensation. It could be a few fingertips, one side of my Palm, a whole finger, between my thumb and pointer finger and sometimes the bottom of my feet can do it too. I've tried to research and what I'm eating but j could not have food in my system and still get it. I think it's a circulating thing. I notice I don't get it Wynn I'm sitting but when I'm out doing something.

That crazy because the same happens to me when I go shopping . My hands swell and then begin to itch. It basically feels like my hands are very heavy and large. It happens other times as well like during walks at night with my dog but mostly when I go shopping. I always thought maybe I was allergic to some fabric I was touching but I am unsure now
