These cysts are not so common but do appear. They make 10% of all the masses in the adnexal region (ovaries and tubes). These cysts represent remnants of of the Wolfiaan duct that lies parallelly the upper third of the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes.
The cysts can grow to be very big and even extend to the upper abdomen. Their size and symptoms do not correspond to the hormonal cycle like other ovarian cysts do.
Paraovarian cysts may be troublesome because they can tear, bleed, rupture and become infected.
Of course I am worried because I have two "lumps" in my body. I have discomfort in my pelvis (not severe) and in my legs (near the top) and occationally in my back. Is this anything to worry about?
What I have read suggests that because I am post menopausal, these cysts and fibroid are more suspicisiou> Is this true. Can a doctor see the difference between a fibroid and a malignant tumour on an ultrasound?
I can't help thinking of all the worse possible things, which can't be good for me. And I have to wait until Sept. until I can get anything more done.
Can you give me any reassurance?i
hi.. had the same situation with you.. it's been one week since i had my surgery.. im 30 and i first discovered my right paraovarian cyst 5 yrs ago and it was like 5cm yet and my OB told me not to worry much and to have regular annual check ups and to report whenever pain occurs. At times, i had tolerable back pains on my right and thought that maybe it was just a regular back pains from work. However, two weeks ago, i had this localized stabbing back pain and so with the right part of my abdomen. It was actually getting worst that the pain runs to my entire abdominal part. After the surgery, it turned out that the cyst twisted 3 times and they also had my fallopian tube removed since it was deprived from blood supply and was like blackish in color already unlike its normal skin-toned color..
hi .. I'm frellen 18 years of age ..
when i was 17y.o we find out that i have a para ovarian cyst according to my ob gyne there is nothing to worry about but i'm scared for some articles that i read ..
can you please help me to understand about this para ovarian?
thanks..
Helene, I just red yr post and find it informative. A young teenage girl I know has just been diagnosed with a para ovarian cyst and has been told that she can cure it with some tablets, no need for surgery. How true is this?
Tablets? What kind of " tablets" would help a paraovarian cyst? That is not true. Here is what is true. No body knows if the cyst will get bigger or smaller or just dissolve. It needs to b monitored by ultra sound every six months or at least once a year. Its dangerous if it gets too big..my dr said over 5 cen. Has to come out. I had mine out ...was in and out of hospital with in four hours was done laparoscopically...three small cuts... Was up and doing my normal thing next day..only thing i took care not to do was left anything over twenty pounds for two weeks...some chick said it took her two weeks?? Not sure y...no reason for that....i even had my gall bladder out at the same time as the cyst was feeling 85 percent good by the next day....by three days 95 percent good. ..no tablet is going to fix this... Either it doesnt get bigger and u just live with it..or it gets bigger and u get it out...good luck
I found out I have a para ovarian cyst two years ago. recently I've been having pelvic pain with back pain. My doctor thinks its too small to cause pain. I think I should get it removed
