Hello! I am Mary and I am a high school student. This year we’ve got psychology as an additional subject and we simply adore it. The classes are very interesting and all students participate actively in discussions. We sometimes work in workgroups and organize competitions. This time we have to write about delusions. I found some information in my books and Internet but I couldn’t get the answer to the question what kind of delusion exists.
Hello! Delusion is a false and firmly sustained belief based on incorrect perception about external reality against obvious proof or evidence to the contrary. The degree to which the person is convinced that the belief is true is very important and it is the key of delusion. Delusions can be categorized as bizarre or non-bizarre and as mood-congruent or mood-incongruent. Although delusions can have any theme there are some themes that are more common such as: delusions on control, nihilistic delusion, delusional jealousy, delusion of guilt, delusion of mind being read, delusion of reference, erotomania, grandiose delusion, persecutory delusions, religious delusion, somatic delusion and many others.
