Kriket - that is so weird, I am going to get my galbladder removed next week, but I alredy have most of the symptoms you described in your description of your wheat/gluten alergy. Plus, my sister has celiac disease(can't have gluten) and is always after me to get tested for it. Maybe theres a conection between the galbladder working improperly and sensitivity to gluten.

I honestly believe it depends on the person. I had my gallbladder removed in July of 2006. So it hasn't even been a year. When I went into the hospital, it was so bad that the gall stones had gotten to my pancreas and I ended up with pancreatitis. So I needed it removed. The doctors warned me though that just because my gallbladder was being removed I could still form gallstones. I've noticed that I've been feeling pain like when I would have may gallstone attacks and ever since the surgery when eating fats I've needed the bathroom within 30 minutes because it would run straight through me. Regardless, I am glad I had that surgery done because the pain was unbearable. It was a quick surgery. I was in pain for 3 days but within a week I was back to work. Every body is different and every body heals differently.

Hi, I just had my gall bladder ( micro surgery) removed 2 weeks after I found out It was sick( stones) and I will say it was the best thing I have had done.I was told by my nurse to hold off on eating fat, greasey foods for 3 weeks when the doctor said 2 weeks. The nurse said it will cut down on having the runs to the bathroom better than 2 weeks and so far she was right. So far no runs. My surgery was done on Tues, morning and I was back home the some day.Very little to no pain, never used the pain meds,I was given ..Having this surgery has not changed my life any. Only take it easy for a few days.Three days after surgery I cleaned the carpet. Oh" I for got to tell you I am 62 1/2
So if you are thinking about this surgery GO 4 IT .But first check with your regular doctor, have chest x rays, and blood work done ahead of time, and even a ekg. This saves your surgeon time and you money.
GOOD LUCK

:'( Hi, In Response to (Kriket)
Oh my God ! If their was a way i could talk to you .Everything you said is exactly what i am going through. I recently had my gall bladder removed about 9 months ago.
I am miserable and feel alone in this fight.
I have bloating , nausea, headaches, I get light headed and even my back aches whenever the bloating begins.
Everytime i eat this happens.I immedietly feel tired and it feels like i can't breath.Sometimes it lasts for about 15 min then it slowly goes away. This happens everyday and sometimes i am bloated all day long.
Please. I would advise anyone to be careful and research this before getting the surgery.
I have been to several doctors and no one seems to know why or how to help me.
This is affecting my life and everyone around me.
I don't want to go anywhere because of this discomfort. If some one would have told me that this would happend to me i would have never got the surgery.
My life has changed and i am very sad because i wonder how long i will have to live like this.
Please Please if some one knows a doctor or anyway i could get help please respond to this.
I am desperate and hurting beacuse no one seems to be able to help me.
Please !respond to this !

I too had my gallbladder out 2 years ago. Since then I have a lot of nausea, bloating, diahrea. They have given me Nexium but even with that you still have stomache discomfort after you eat. What can I do? This is getting really old.

for all of you with bloating, diarrea, stomach cramping, nausea even after you have had your gall bladder removed, make sure that you are tested for gluten intolerance.
If you are allergic to gluten the disease is called CELIAC SPRUE and you will need to have a gluten free diet for the rest of your life.
For those of you that are contemplating having your gall bladder removed, have your doctor test for gluten intolerance as well. It is possible that you have Celiac Sprue. In many cases going onto a gluten free diet will resolve the gall bladder problems.

I had my gall bladder removed four years ago this month. My first attack - the single most painful experience I have ever gone through - had taken place while home visiting my parents, and I had to cancel my flight back. Once I returned home, I had another attack and went to the emergency room. Surgery was scheduled for a week later, and during the wait I had another attack so bad I was crying hysterically and wishing I would die.
I know for some people, after surgery, things go back to normal. They can eat what they want without problems. But I have a few problems.
I have to be careful about my fat intake every day - for the rest of my life, I guess, if it's still going on after four years. Fried foods, fast food, even avocados leave me with painful cramping in my lower stomach and a nausea that makes me feel like I have a fever. The pain can get intense, but usually lasts only about 15 minutes. Then, I immediately have to use the bathroom.
So all in all, I can no longer eat a big bowl of ice cream, an entire bag of potato chips, a super-sized McDonald's meal, or guacamole. However, I can eat all of that stuff in small quantities. Except the avocado. That really does a number on me for some reason.
Anyway, I do feel bad for those who have worse symptoms than mine after surgery, but in my experience, I do recommend having your gall bladder removed if you need to. Your life should change very little, and you should NEVER have to go through the EXCRUTIATING pain of an attack again.

I am hoping someone can help me. I am 37 yo female suffering from fibromyalgia and had just recently (March 26) had my gallbladder out. It was done laproscopically, but I had several complications afterwards during my recovery and have not been the same since. For one thing, I have dropped weight and can't keep any weight on. I used to weigh 126lbs and felt pretty healty, but now I weigh 110lbs and struggle to keep that weight. Almost everything I eat causes some sort of discomfort and I have just started experiencing nausea after eating. I also have IBS which complicates the issue. I just am worried sick something else is wrong since I can't keep weight on, but I also can't eat alot anymore at all. Is this normal? Will I ever be able to eat normal again or is this a new way of life? I am now lactose intolerant to an extreme that I can't even eat or drink lactose free foods. Even that bothers me. I need to know that this could be normal after having my gallbladder removed?? How long will this take to feel normal again if ever?? :-( I have tried soy milk, don't like it, or soy products. I can't eat any fruits or veggies and am VERY concerned I am leading a very unhealthy diet since my surgury. PLEASE can someone shed some light for me?? I feel like my life has just gone from bad to worse! HELP!

Hi,
I'm a 45 y/o male. I had a gall bladder removed about six months ago and eat/drink what I like with no symptoms. I think the point is that each individual might have slightly different results after the op. Generally, as far as I can ascertain, most people will have no problems afterwards. If you ARE having problems, go and see your doctor! Abdominal pain is not normal after the op so it may be an indication of some other maybe unrelated problem

After my first attack at 25 and being told my digestive problems were the result of anxiety, curled in the floor in the wee hours of the morning with excrutiating pain, throwing up and constant reflux, feeling so full I could barely eat, shooting hot electrical pains in my back, chest, shoulder and tummy, complete lack of engery; at 52 I had my gall bladder removed.
I had large stones but the surgery was NOTHING compared to the suffering. I had all of three minutes of pain and very little bruising, no gas was left in that caused pain--make sure you have a good and experienced surgeon!
Five dinky incisions, some "pullling/ twinges" in the abdominal area, little pain meds (I have ZERO tolerance for pain and just didn't have any pain to speak about w/ the meds that I only took for two and half days) and two weeks off work. I didn't have a lot of energy and slept when I needed to sleep, but did light chores such as emptying the dishwasher, washing some clothes, taking small walks, etc.
I ate Shrimp and Pasta with spinach (sauteed in chicken broth and added two tblsp real butter) the next day and half lean New York Strip with 1/4 cup broccoli and cheese the next. I drank a full six pack of light beer that very weekend. I also ate whole grain cereal with soy milk, turkey sandwhiches with mustard on whole grain bread and some cheetos and doritos.
No throwing up, no bad "potties", NO PAIN.
The flushes are bull!!!! Sugery is final and there are no ill effects unless one abuses oneself with extemely high fatty foods for which there are delicious subsitutes.
The gall bladder is needless and when diseased is toxic to the body, no flush will change that!
I will never regret having my gall bladder removed. It is like night and day for me to live in a healthy non-diseased/ toxic producing body.

:-( I had my GB out on 5-30-07. It was done laproscopically. Instead of an overnite stay I was in hospital 3 days with intense pain during the whole time. I was told the pain was from all the air that was pumped into my abdomen for the procedure. The pain continued for another 3 or 4 days after my discharge from hospital. I was on heavy doses of pain meds while in hospital and came come with lortabs to help manage the pain. Finally, all the air has left my body and I don't have to deal with that any longer. Now however I have other issues to deal with. What to eat, how much to eat, when to eat, etc.. I have tried no fat, low fat, fat and it all causes great gas pains especially when lying on my left side and the gas migrates into the area where my GB use to be and the pain is extreme. I do not know if it is caused by what I eat, how much I eat, or when I eat. Some days I JUST DO NOT EAT and that usually feels better in the long run. My weight is down to 135 from 165. All this started about 3 1/2 months ago and I am just about at my wits end. It is good to read that for some life eventually gets back to normal. I am trying to identify with those individuals and press on in hope that I can one day join their ranks.

I had my gallbladder removed a year and a half ago, I still have pains in my stomach sometimes and I have a hard time digesting my food. Sometimes it takes hours for it to digest when before it wouldn't take that long. Is there anything that I should be doing differently than what I am doing now. I am also having a hard time losing weight that I gained shortly after having my gall bladder removed. Any ideas?
