What’s your record on 100m pool? I always get confused when it comes to measuring and I have no idea what result to try to achieve. I’m not planning to break any records. It’s just in order to be able to have approximate orientation. I’ll probably be very disappointed when I compare it to my speed. Nevertheless, I’ll try and improve it.
That’s a big mistake of yours. There’s no need to chase after records, facts and figures. The best way to have benefit from swimming and to completely enjoy it, is swimming according to your own pace. The speed increases gradually as your strength and condition improve. This way you can only discourage yourself and think that you’re a lousy swimmer, which can influence your training in a bad way. Do you remember that guy form one of the recent Olympic Games who was swimming two times slower than all the other competitors? He was almost like an amateur and everybody cheered when he finished because that was the triumph of the will. And that’s what’s most important. Not chasing after records.
