My daughter was recently overwhelmed by a schizophrenic episode. We were all quite surprised with the diagnosis and just getting used to idea that our daughter has schizophrenia. Still, I would like to ask the question - when can we expect improvement from the time the schizophrenia first started? I hope it is not premature to ask this question?
I am sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis. What treatment is she receiving at the moment? It really does vary a lot. Some people improve within days, while others need weeks or even months in some cases, to stabilize their conditions. All you can do is work with the doctors and hope for the best.

I wss diagnosed at 59.with paranoid schizophrenia. It was a late diagnosis..but my grandmother was diagnosed at 55. I thought I was chosen (like Jean Dixon) to revile a plot to hurt someone in power. It took me years of institutions, Dr's and meds I also take fish oil..and Serquial. I now live on my own..I stay away from violence and psyic stuff as it will confuse me..I have very good staff and family. .and my Dr. is exceptional. I do pray but I stay away from church. The lives of the saints is very attractive to my diagnosis. So I stay away from any extremes. I do not drink or do drugs..as when I hallunciate, ii experience what people who take drugs naturally. This page is wonderful and I will pass it on. Talking about this is the only real solution there is..
