FOR EACH WOMAN IT IS DIFFERENT!
Let's say you had a 28 day cycle, and it doesn't matter what 'day of the month" it starts or stops on...
Okay if you had a perfect 28 day cycle, you could expect to ovulate on day 14 approx. BUT sperm can live a few days so it would be important to use protection until AFTER you have ovulated.
YOU need to get a fertility monitor, that would be the easiest way.
DOING birth control this way is not as good as birth control pills, so do not be surprised if you become pregnant EVEN IF you try to avoid pregnancy.
Basically you are running a high risk of becoming pregnant.

To use this method you need to have a regular cycle and be familiar with the time that you ovulate. Since sperm can live for around 5 days, it is best not to have unprotected sex for a week before ovulation and then a couple of days after. If you really don't want to use condoms, you could consider some other sort of birth control -pills, patches or the depo shot. I would only have unprotected sex for a couple of days after my period ended and then the week before then next period was due (and during your period if you want). These are the least fertile times
