For the past few days I've been having a bit of chest pain, mainly on the left side. It comes on suddenly and it sometimes really sharp, and others just aching. The pain has also been above my breastbone and reaching down to my underarms. As well as the back of my rib cage. And I have also noticed recently it is painful to swallow food, and only when i'm swallowing food, not any sort of liquid. The pain gets worse when pressed on. It usually goes quite quicky and only happens 1/2 times a day. Not what I would call severe, but is this something I should seek medical attention for ASAP or just consult with my GP?
Hi Pippy,
If it continues see your GP. It is worsens, seeks medical attention immediately.
You MAY have esophagitis. It's an inflammation of the esophagus. The pain can radiate some.
It should resolve by itself but sometimes it is caused by Gastric Reflux disease, GERD.
