Oh, thank GOD. I'm sixteen and I have the same milky white discharge. It's not cottage cheese-like at all, it's like lotion. And I don't eat seafood, so I didn't know what "fishy" was supposed to smell like, but I don't think it smells what I would imagine to be fishy. And I too am a virgin. I figured I had bacterial vaginosis, and I was really scared because I didn't want to have to ask my mom to go to the gyno. But it's been this way for a long time, and it hasn't gotten worse or anything, so maybe it's okay. Maybe it's just the way I am...?

I have read all your responses but I just want more conformation... Someone please respond.
I have white discharge I only see it after my boyfriend pulls out and I can see it on his penis. Before I made the conclusion that it was a yeast infection because I was getting the common irritations and i had chunks like cottage cheese used the kit, it went away.
Then the white stuff came back after a while I used an other yeast kit early into it so i didnt experience the irritations again. It went away for a very long time, BUT came back it cant be a yeast infection! I have NO pain, NO irritation other than feeling a little icky, and embarrassed after sex I just have white stuff that comes out of me. And I only see every once in a while for a while, on my boyfriends penis not on my underwear. Im soo baffled, I can litteraly just clean it all out of my viganal and its gone for weeks, then BOOM its back. My boyfriend thinks I should get it checked out but im 18 and still a very shy/private girl and really dont want anyone else in there. I doo stress out and get anxiety would that be it? It looks exactly like my conditioner that thickness, but more opaque.

I was hoping to find some information about my problem, but instead I think I can offer a couple of you some advice! If you are continually sleeping with the same partner, and it recurs shortly after intercourse, then it sounds to me like Trichomiasis. This is a sexually transmitted infection, that is easily curable, and resembles yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis! A male can have this infection and show absolutely no symptoms at all, but will pass it to the female during intercourse, and she gets the repricussions (man It'd be nice to be a boy)! My advice to you is to have your boyfriends checked out whether or not they think they have an infection! Could be the solution to all your problems!

You can have a yeast or bacterial infection and not have anything but the discharge. Ive had it before adn only found out after getting tested.
I get discharges through out the day that can go from white to clear but i would get tested for an infection of some sort yeast or bacterial cause every time i had that kind of discharged (white, smaer on panties) it ended up as an infection. Half the time i would get no irritation of any kind.
Every person is different.

Well it posted with out me finishing, lol.

Also when i fist had sex i noticed alot of extra wetness and discharge, a off set in my periods. My sister inlaw had the same issues after she first had sex to. I dunno maybe some people had odd reactions when they have sex for the first time, like thier body is changing or adjusting to this new thing.

Even now i still get extra wetness and i notice it through out the day. Stress, dealing with 2 kids, ehh getting turned on lol. Alot of things can be the reason for it. All you can do is wear panty liners and adjust

WOW, girls, it is scary how little you are aware of anything or know that the internet is there to help self diagnose to a point. a Doctor is always your best bet.

1. to the 17 yr old. Sounds like you have a yeast infection...It's not genetics LOL sorry to laugh but don't they teach you sex ed or anything? I knew all this by the time I was 12 maybe younger.

2. to the girl who put her finger there ( only because she is gay) LOL again, I put my finger there to check sometimes and I'm 100% straight. You too, have a yeast infection so it sounds.

3. To the girl who gets meds from the doctor who TELLS her after diagnosis that she has a yeast infection, then you get better, go have sex and get it almost immediately again. You have so obviously passed it on to your partner, and he has not been treated and so when you get treated and cured and go back to having sex with him, he is simply giving it right back to you. YOU BOTH HAVE TO GET TREATED OR IT WILL CONTINUE HAPPENING.

Yeast infections are normal, although if you get them more than 2-3 times a year you should get checked as it may not be a yeast infection and could be an STD.

Yeast infections can be caused by many thing, intercourse without proper lubrication is one way. But stress can lead to it, sweating down there a lot can be another way, as well as wearing tight constricting clothes, panty hose, staying in a wet bikini for too long, etc.
All yeast infections are is a rise in you PH levels, and heat and or discomfort will definitely do it. Think of a jar of yogurt, place that in the direct sun for day...you will grown yeast.

so ladies, like lady number 1, do not wait years or months to get it checked or dealt with, this will only cause problems that a yeast infection should not normally cause, but anything left untreated can lead to other things.

DO SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, BUT DON'T SELF DIAGNOSE, IF YOU'RE NOT SURE, GO TO THE DOCTOR. You're a woman, get used to the imbarrassment of telling your doctor your girl problems now, cuz you have many many years ahead of you, and if you ever have anything really wrong with you and you don't go to the doctor or don't get checked immediatley then you are only asking for very very bad out comes.

GET INFORMED, LEARN ABOUT IT ALL, DON'T OVER REACT, AND GET IT TAKEN CARE OF. (if you ever get something like clamidia (not sure how to spell that) and you leave it for a long time it can actually make you infertile, you can never have kids, so don't treat this lightly. While a yeast infection is no big deal, if you don't know what it is and don't get it checked it could effect you for the rest of your life.)

DO NOT BE IGNORANT WITH YOUR HEALTH...STAY INFORMED...AND BE SMART...OR YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Hi. well not to be blunt or anything but i guess this is kind of the point on here. well i had two periods in the month of august and i think one of them was from missing a day or two on the pill because that's happened before. shortly after my second period which started the 19th i had anal sex with my boyfriend on the 27th. i noticed after he pulled out that i had soaked all the way through my shorts (soffe shorts) i didnt know if it was me or him. im supposed to start my period on the 16th of september. and if im right i ovulated a few days before or after we did that. i hadnt restarted my pill yet because i hadnt had time to pick it up from the pharmacy so i was not on hte pill that day. i got paranoid because i don't want to be pregnant so im stressing out over it. and by calculating my discharge i ovulated the 1st or so of september. i went back through the whole whitish, a little stretchy type discharge and then the white, not strechy discharge so i don't believe im pregnant because your supposed to stay that clear stretchy discharge after conception. well yesterday or so i started having this wet feeling like i started my period and it was just thick discharge. today its none but a really wet feeling. i restarted my pill and ive been having to take two a day to catch up (my doctor told me too) so im thinking its becuase of that but im not sure. any ideas?? please help!

if youre going to the doc, and the meds work until you have sex again - its your boyfriend. the bacteria that cause the yeast infection stay on him, but he usually won't feel any discomfort (unless it manages to get inside his uretha, then it'll burn like it does us) - make sure he cleans himself a hell of a lot better. it could be from you from a previous romp prior to the doc visit, or it could be from another girl (not to say that he's sleeping around) that has an infection. i suggest this because it's happened to me. or it could be that youre having sex too soon after you finish the meds, give it a few days to make sure its completely gone. or, you could couple the OTC treatments with the prescription meds to see if that helps. also, yeast infections are pretty common for chicks anyways, and a lot of us get them around our menses. fiendish amounts of sex contributes, and if youre especially sensitive, condoms can be an irritant (still use them, just find a brand that works better for you). it helps if you eat better foods, things with probiotics like yogurt. and drinking cranberry juice is good for UTIs, which are also common around menses or from having loads of sex.

best of luck!

I have been having a Clear discharge for 4-5 years now. It is never like lotion, never creamy white, never itchy, and it is odorless. It is egg white clear and it is all day and all night. Usually worse at night when I am lying down or even in the sitting position or excesive exercising or dancing. It seems to have something to do woth my bladder as well and they seem to constantly work together. I have to wear tampons and pads 24/7. I have been tested for STD's, BV's, and all tests are negative. Doctors don't seem to have an answer and say I shouldn't be worried? It seems to increase as the years go by. I am now in my mid 40's. I keep myself extremely clean, carrying baby wipes and fresh tampons and pads every two hours like clock work. It is very expensive, as I will only use a certain brand and no other. It was destroying my life and now I have just learned to cope with it but I hate it. I have let doctors talk me into doing surgical procedures that have not worked. Does any one have the heavy clear problem???

Bacterial Vaginosis. Nine out of every ten of you probably have it. After reading through the posts, I realized that you all could use a little bit of my knowledge on that matter..

BV is caused by an overgrowth of bacteria, most commonly the one called Gardnerella, inside the vagina. Hormonal changes, out-of-balance diet, alcohol, sex with someone who has BV: these can all cause you to contract BV. We all many species of these bacterium inside our vaginas, as well as inside of our colons. The best supplement for BV is Lactobacillus acidophilus. There are many probiotic blends on the market that are also good for vaginal health (Femdophilus, Culturelle, Critical Care for Vaginal health by Renew Life). The problem is, sometimes these probiotic supplements are not enough. If you let your BV grow out of control, you will have a huge mess...lots of discharge, lots of itching, etc.
Folic Acid supplementation in 800mcg doses often with take away itching, and upon taking it two times a day for a long period of time, you may find that your BV is gone.
If you go to the doctor they will do a PAP and search for "clue cells." Presence of "clue cells" means you have BV. Now, if they do not find "clue cells" it could still mean you have BV, but you may end up diagnosed as having Leuchorrea.

Here are some things you can do: take folic acid supplements, take a probiotic daily, eat as many vegetables as you can get your hands on and try to alkalize your system, take garlic supplements or eat garlic, and avoid sugar, coffee, bread, pasta, yeast until it has absolved. I know this sounds horrible, and it truly is...but if you start these things early on you have a much lessened risk at PID or further complications.
