I've been having a bad taste and smell for almost a whole two weeks. When there are strong smells like some food fresh out the over or microwave i get a weird unpleasant smell. The smell i have it's the same thing that i taste in certain things i eat, even while i brush my teeth. Someone help me figure out what is wrong with me this sucks! :(

There are several potential causes for a persistent bad taste or altered sense of smell. Some of these include:

  1. COVID-19: One of the symptoms of COVID-19 is a loss of or change in the sense of taste and smell. Many people who recover from the virus report that their taste and smell don't return to normal immediately, and some experience strange or unpleasant tastes and smells. If you've had other symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to someone with the virus, it's worth considering.

  2. Sinus or Upper Respiratory Infections: Infections can impact your sense of taste and smell.

  3. Medications: Some medications have side effects that can alter taste and smell. If you've recently started a new medication, this could be a factor.

  4. Oral Health Issues: Problems like gum disease, tooth infections, or poor oral hygiene can lead to a bad taste in the mouth.

  5. Reflux or GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease): Acid reflux can lead to a sour or bitter taste in the mouth.

  6. Other Medical Conditions: Conditions like liver disease, diabetes, or kidney problems can sometimes cause taste and smell disturbances.

  7. Exposure to Chemicals: Exposure to certain chemicals or pollutants can sometimes impact taste and smell.

  8. Nasal Polyps: Growth in the nose can lead to a reduced or altered sense of smell.

  9. Zinc Deficiency: A deficiency in this mineral can impact taste and smell.

  10. Aging: As we age, our senses of taste and smell can diminish.
