I have suffered itchy scrotam for almost 20 years, i don't recall a day when i was not constantly scratching down there, its not a hygeine problem as most people think, doctors where unable to help, it seemed most were guessing rather than actually diagnosing the problem, i recently had a read in a health forums someone using Benadryl Gel, i could only get it from the U.S. so i decided to give it a try and ordered some, i havent itched for 24hrs so far with 2 applications, last night i had the best sleep ever, fingers crossed that it will do the trick & help my scrotum to heal, i'll keep you all posted.

Another thing guys.... if you use bleach for T-shirts and socks, double rinse them to make sure you get all the bleach out. Bleach will  eat your nutsac and feet when you start to sweat. Also, eliminate fabric softner in your underwear and socks. Whether your under drawers are colored, briefs, boxers, cotton, or tighty whities... or your socks are white sweat socks or colored..... Fabric softer does not allow the cotton to absorb sweat as well.

Did u ever figure out what it was? I have the same symptoms

I also have had this problem for years with the itchy scrotum. I've tried ointments, have gone to the dermatologist, and have tried about everything, which were just temporary fixes. Over the years I have finally come to find that it is what I consume (Food Allergies)! Everyday you have to watch what you eat and drink. I have come to find over the years when I eat certain cheeses dairy other dairies I have issues, certain nuts, trail mixes, dried mango or pineapple; which in the dried fruits it may be sulfurs or other things they may use to preserve the food. I just had a RedBull today and five minutes later started itching like crazy. I downed a couple teaspoons of Benadryl and the symptoms disappeared! So the best advice before you go pay tons of money to figure this out is have some Benadryl on stand- by, if you start itching, take some Benadryl ,see if the symptoms go away. If they do, remember to be cautious of what you consume the next time. Double check with an allergy doctor. If it persists it more than likely a fungus or jock itch, check with the dermatologist.

Good luck!

I have ben using Antroquoril 0.02% betamethasone to stop the itch when it is very itchy and biting itch.

But I dont want to use it as it would only stop the symptoms but not the cause.

I have tried for more than a week now alo vera gell as a moisturiser and I believe it has the anti fungal antibiotic merits. I use to wake up at night to apply Antroquoril cream but now the itch if I wake up is less intense and I only need to use the alo vera gell.

Try. And let me know.

I had this problem for about a month. I didn't know what it was and got vet worried that I had an std. After reading these posts I tried the allergy approach and took loratadine, the basic ingredient in things likeClaritin and Zyrtec. The itching stopped right away. I bought cream as a back up and will use that if it continues.

The scrotum is the sack that contains your testicles. A.K.A, 'ballsack.' So when you say. "I've got an itchy scrotum, and I keep scratching my butt in the shower," I don't know what you're talking about, because a scrotum, since I've last checked, is not a synonym for anus.

Scrotum equals ballsack. Anus equals ass. You're pathetic if you can't get that right.

zip I think you're on to something but I'd go a step further back. I realized, thanks to your post, that I'm sitting on my underwear. No surprise there. I started wondering if the detergent I used might have anything to do with our collective problem. Then I realized my itching started around the same time I started using Tide pods. I recall the first time I used a pod. Stuff like jeans, which had been washed dozens of times previously, turned my white socks blue. All of my tops became duller. I remember thinking - this is strong stuff. So I've stopped using it and have reverted to the detergent I used to use. Also I won't be using fabric softeners. Here's hoping.
