Use lotion to relieve the itch.  It burns if you've scratched it, but the relief will come pretty quickly.  The burning actually feels good as the pain of it makes the itch go away.

I think it may help to determine a cause if we all find what things we have in common in addition to the itch.  Below I've listed some things about my self that you can read and we can see what we have in common. The itch problem began for me at least 14 years ago.  I noticed it in 1999.The only thing that changed before that was we added a dog to the familyI am 53 years oldI am white raceI am about 60 or 70 pounds overweight, so I am obese.I do not smoke cigarettesI drink coffee habituallyI do not eat a lot of sugar but someI shower at least once a dayI do not shave scrotum or anywhere else down there.I am straightI notice that the itching is much worse when I am sleeping and my body is warm under covers. When my body temp is cooler, the itch is not as badI drink a lot of wine ( which I suspect reduces my immune system )I masterbate frequently ( don't know if there is any connection there )Talc seems to help aliveiate the itching a bit but not cure of courseI do have itchy skin sometime on other areas of my bodyI have noticed the itching seems to get worse as I gain more weight.  Maybe there is a connection to my obesity and/or diet.

I've had a scrotum itch for a good part of my long life. Now in my seventies it's been very persistent, problem paticularly at night. But just a few days ago, a second visit to a Dermatologist may have solved the problem. I had several cysts on my scrotum. They are not very conspicuous. They are small whitish bumps You can best locate them by feel. The doc pierced two. I believe she use a a suction needle and the other she squeezed. Since three days i have hardly had any itching. Actually, when I got home I realized there was another one underneath. I took the matter in my own hands. I sterilized a needle and punctured the cyst. I have to admit I could hardily discern any discharge. I'm hoping this is a long term solution.

Baby powder works wonders in stopping the periodic itch.

Friends, I have literally cried out to God for a solution to my condition and I praise him everyday for giving me the answer.

It is only fitting that i share the information.

First off, let me tell you what doesnt work:

Iodine. Whoever came up with this idea and posted it on the internet probably has no idea how many people suffered an excruciating, almost indescribable pain. Worst part is it doesnt work.

Coconut oil. helps but only for a very short period of time.

Oil of Jojoba. doesnt work.

Baby powder. doesnt work and shouldnt be used by people who are allergic to corn.

lanolin. doesnt work and many people are unaware they are allergic to them.

canesten/clotrimazole dont waste your money

colloidal silver cream. powerful antibacterial but doesnt work in this case. makes my mind go blank

steroids. never ever ever put steroids on your scrotum. it works very well at first but the long term effects can be disastrous. I tried them and thankfully not for too long. Think cancer and severe hormone disruption. remember, testosterone is the chief male hormone which is produced in the testes.

antifungal soap. soap, even if its antifungal dries out the skin making it worse. even organic soap.

synthetic antifungal creams/ointments sold on the internet. I tried a couple but i forgot their names but i kid you not: It took my itchyness to a whole new level. trust me on this.

I have gotten to the point where i wanted to get a knife and just cut my scrotum out. One night i was crying out to God to please flip my car on the highway on my way home from work because i just couldnt live with it anymore. In my case, Its not just the scrotum that was tormenting me, its also the anus, the butt crack, the entire penis head and shaft including around the base of the penis. I was scratching myself raw during the day, before bed, atleast once during the night. I would not wish this to my worst enemy. Today i am itch free. Praise God!

I did 3 things.

First, I took Candida SAP. This problem is 100% candida related i.e. yeast overgrowth from the gut that has manifested itself on the outside of the body. If you have ever had a white coated tongue, athletes foot, itch very deep in the ears, itchy anus or any fungal disease, candida has already spread to the outside of the body. This is defeating the itch from the inside out. Candida SAP can be bought online. I do not know if similar products work as well.

second, i took a therapeutic strength probiotic. I got mine from a naturopathic doctor. brand doesnt matter so long as its therapeutic strength. The purpose is to get the yeast in balance and under control. i dont get my probiotic from anywhere else because i dont trust them.  note: try to get probiotics without FOS (Fructooligosaccharides) as many people are allergic to them.

third, i tried this product: Zinc Chamomile cream by st. francis herb farms in canada.

Zinc helps to heal the skin. Chamomile is very soothing and moisturizes the skin. theres a host of other good stuff in it like coconut oil, olive oil, beeswax, vitamin E,  Vitamin C, aloe vera, lavander, ect...

Please not that i am in no way promoting these products.

Listen Carefuly - I had the exact same problem - Went to my GP and he prescribed 2 creams; 1). Broad spectrum anti-fungal cream 2). Hydrocortisone cream (for inflammation). He told me to use the 2 creams mixed together in equal amounts for 1 week - rub generously into affected areas once per day (after shower). Then continue to use just the Broad spectrum anti fungal cream for another 2 weeks after. This combination was as close to a miracle as one can speak of, Went from Itching (mainly in the evening) so severely till it almost drive me nuts (excuse the pun) for 3-4weeks of agony - to using the creams and instantly better. The creams were prescribed, so yes you may need to see your doctor. But honestly If you have never seen a doctor about an 'embarrassing' issue - honestly don't worry, It truly is their job and they will make you feel like it's just the same as putting a stethoscope to your chest - very routine. This will fix it :) YAAYY

I don't know that this is a "cure", but try this..I did and the symptoms are gone: 1. Put lice shampoo from Dollar General 2. After it sits for a few minutes, apply anti dandruff shampoo from Dollar General (containing 1% zinc) 3. Dry thoroughly after shower. 4. Apply anti-itch cream from Dollar General 5. generously cover with 50 power sunblock cream from Dollar General. Reapply the sun block at night. maybe only one or two of the above stopped the symptoms, but I am afraid to change the regimin that's working.

Not lotion...Sunscreen (rated 50). Apparently the screening portion blocks whatever causing the irritation. I used lotions and creams and agree..they didn't work.

GUYS I CAN HELP !! No this is not a joke and no I do not sell this product. Get yourself to Walmart ( or wherver you can find it ) and in the cosmetics section get a yellow bottle of powder call "Anti Monkey Butt". Yah I know, I hate the name too.. I have used this now for a couple months and my itching has reduced by 95%. I have the exact same problem. For at least 14 years I have had the same problem - insane itching on my balls - and it seems to get worse either (1) the older I get, or (2) the more overweight I get. This Anti Monkey Butt powder is fantastic stuff. It has not not cured the problem and I still don't know what the problem is but this Anti Monkey Butt powder takes the itch away and takes away the sticky nasty sweat.

I have had this problem mildly for several years but it recently became almost unbearable. That was when I looked on the internet which suggested it might be a fungus which set me thinking and having some antibactereal hand wash tried that when I showered and hey presto the problem has gone away.

From what I understand, your body breaks down carbs into sugars. Wheats, pastas, rice etc. will create similar issues as processed sugars, should this be the cause of the discomfort. Try eating only meats and veggies for a couple of days to see if this has a positive affect and reduces the itch. Process of elimination.

Believe it or not I used hot pepper spray with great success. After having this problem on and off for years I tried something called Itchy Balls Pepper Jock Spray (funny) and it worked right away. It burned a little the first few times I used it but now I use it every day to ward off my jock itch.

I've had this problem for a long time and have finally discovered, I think,  that for me it is due to an allergic reaction to histamines, particularly from drinking red wine. Often skin reactions can occur to food allergies and other allergens resulting in itchy skin and hives which can manifest themselves in various locations in the body, including hands and probably, for men, the scrotum. If this is your problem it can probably be controlled with over the counter antihistamines like Zyrtec (cetrizine). I take 10mg (one pill) before bed at night and it has stopped my itching cold unless I over indulge a little. You might try it as well as look to identify what you might be allergic to.
