I started to develop this problem AND a wheat allergy after being on the atkins diet for a year.
My body lost the ability to process certain digestive enzymes effectively for wheat, starch etc that have been absent from my diet
Without the slow build up of enzymes, which usually occurs in infancy, with adults the body instead builds up a resistance to it.
This causes digestive problems and skin rashes

....another tip...urine that leaks into your underwear after taking a piss and gets on your genital skin tends to burn and itch and will certainly aggravate any existing itch, Some times it can even intiate a condition if your skin is sensitive.
So make sure you always shake well to get any excess urine out before zipping up. When available, I always use a piece of toilet paper to pad and absorb the last remaining urine in the urether head opening....
Oh...and the reason this advice is so important is that skin fungus are always there even when there is no itch (because the numbers are low)...but these creature multiply rincredibly apidly when the skin is moist...and piss is wet so follow my instruction to mitigate against fugal itch....

Depending on how bad it is, it may take a dermatologists script for a lotrisone cream. I've had this problem for years and finally found the cure and really wanted to share it.. I started using Colloidal Silver Soap every day on the area 5 months ago and dried it off after a shower with Zeasorb or Burts Bees powder ( My choice ). It has stayed away for good. This soap has been like a miracle cure. Try it and you won't be dissapointed.

My itching is inside the actual sack. Nothing on the outside. The only way to stop it is to take the loose skin and squeeze my finger and thumb and rub really really hard. It does give me some relief. It happens about 2 to 3 times per mont

Here is a fix....wash your balls and groin with Nizoral antifungal shampoo every day for a week and then every couple of days, and then twice a week.
In addition intially, use Hydrocortisone acetate 10 mg/g morning and night for a couple of weeks...
...and a broad spectrum antifungal cream morning and night for one month...
Keep up the antifungal shampoo as long as it takes until the redness of the testicles is gone...and use it from time to time to keep the fungus under control...they can't ever be gotten completely rid of.
And do it at the beginning of the summer heat when the groin starts to get sweaty and damp.
This procdure is also good for fungal related itchy scaly scalp, forehead, eyebrows, and cheeks, and inside the ears...

I suffered from an itchy scrotum for many years and have finally overcome it. Since this seems to be one of the most active threads about this problem on the internet, I’ve decided to post my experience here. I hope it’s helpful.
First, however, we should keep in mind that we might not all be talking about the same ailment. I’m not a physician, but I think it’s fairly safe to say that an itchy scrotum may have many different causes. It may be a skin disease, a fungus, an STD, an allergy, a food intolerance, and so forth. So my solution to my itchy scrotum problem might not necessarily be the solution to your itchy scrotum problem. Still, I’m sure that at least some of you suffer from an itchy scrotum for the same reason as I suffered from it. So my experience should be of interest (and hopefully also of some help) to at least some of you.
My itchy scrotum problem started six or seven years ago. I do not remember exactly when it all started, partly because it took me some time to realize that it might be a serious problem. During these six or seven years, I engaged in compulsive scratching of my scrotum, particularly (but not exclusively) of the underside of my scrotum. I did this on a daily basis, usually once or twice a day and also at night while asleep (which would then wake me up). When I felt the urge to scratch, the skin of my scrotum was extremely sensitive. This sensitivity was a bit reminiscent of the sensitivity of the skin on the bottom of the feet. Scratching the skin was extremely pleasurable and soothing. Also, once I had satisfied my urge to scratch, the urge wouldn’t return for a while. But, as mentioned above, I usually had to scratch myself once or twice a day. Sometimes, the scratching resulted in light bleeding. Also, the colour of my skin has changed as a result of the scratching and has not yet returned to normal (though I only stopped the habit about two weeks ago).
After some time, I decided to see a doctor, who checked me for diseases, but he couldn’t find anything. I didn’t see any other doctors, because it dawned on me that the cause of my itchy scrotum problem must be psychological. What I found particularly odd was that my urge to scratch my scrotum seemed to follow a fixed schedule (at least to some extent). For a couple of years, the urge was strongest in the morning. I had to scratch myself when I took my morning shower, but not necessarily later in the day. Then, again for a very long time, the urge was strongest roughly between 6 and 7 pm. I could refrain from scratching during the day, but I knew that by 6 or 7 pm the urge would be irresistible. Interestingly, there seemed to be a certain level of demand for scratching. If I scratched myself at, say, 3 pm, I did not need to scratch myself at 6 pm. Or if I somehow managed to refrain from scratching myself during the day (which happened very rarely), I could be sure that I would scratch myself at night (Reinopss reports a similar experience in a previous post). This strange regularity, and the fact that the doctor did not find any physiological causes, made me believe that it must be a psychological issue. After all, why would fungus care about the time of the day?
Now, finally, here is the solution: It turned out that I had developed some kind of mental aversion towards my private parts. I realized that I was a bit ashamed of them, or at least that I felt uncomfortable about them. This aversion, however, was not obvious to me, and it took me some time to become aware it. The original reason why I felt uneasy about my scrotum was presumably that I have got pearly pimple-like papules on the scrotum. They are harmless (as my dermatologist has confirmed) but somewhat unaesthetic. Although I have never been too concerned about them, they do bother me and I suspect that they are the original cause of my itchy scrotum problem (Interestingly, thebudman93, Rick and pablo also report to have cysts or papules on their scrotum). Anyway, I then found out that there was a ridiculously easy way to overcome this unease, namely by way of positive autosuggestion. Throughout the day and whenever I felt that the urge to scratch might arise, I sort of positively committed myself to my testicles. I said to myself that everything is fine with my private parts and that I don’t need to be ashamed of them. I also sometimes pictured myself naked when I performed this kind of positive autosuggestion. So what I did was I mentally reconciled or teamed up with my scrotum, so to speak. And – miraculously – it worked. It worked immediately. Within a day or two, my urge to scratch my scrotum disappeared nearly completely. I made this discovery about two weeks ago and have since then only minimally engaged in obsessive scratching behavior. Today, I consider myself cured. I now apply the autosuggestion technique only when I feel that the urge to scratch may arise. This now happens only very rarely, and it instantly disappears when I positively commit myself to my genitals. I then do not need to make an effort to refrain from scratching.
What has not disappeared is the high sensitivity of the skin. It is just that I no longer feel the desire to scratch the skin. I have therefore come to conclude that this sensitivity is perfectly normal, like the sensitivity of the skin on the bottom of the foot. I used to think that it was this high sensitivity of the skin that made me want to scratch it, but now this seems no longer plausible. (Or, to be precise, I thought that the sensitivity was identical with the itchiness, but this turned out false.)
I know that my solution to the problem sounds unlikely. But it worked. Of course, I cannot guarantee that you can overcome your itchy scrotum problem in the same way. But you should at least give it a go, especially if you think that your itchy scrotum problem may have psychological roots, too.
