I am 13 and I have the same problem as everyone else here. Since most of you dont feel much pain, or itchiness, or any other bothersome symptom, I think it is just part of the body. Since the labia minora is pretty sensitive, then the skin there is probably really thin, so we might see stuff like these white dots. Uh, and its probably not an STD since I'm not sexually active, and have the same thing you all do. :]

Hello,
I have the exact same thing, every woman does, in varying degrees. It's not an infection and is very normal. That's exactly what my doctor told me when I asked her, during a pelvic exam, where I pointed out the bumps and she took a very close look.

They cant be an STD because i have it to and i am not sexually active. I'm just as worried to because i'm 16 and i have barely even made out with a guy. I REALLY want to know what this is. Its just the same as everyone is describing.

I have the same thing. So far, I have tested negative for Psyeudmonas, Yeast, Chlamydia, Ghonnorhea, Vulvitis (sp?). However, I am currently taking an ANTIVIRAL, and it has helped. Most likely outcome is herpes. My inguinal lymph nodes are also swollen.

It's basically acne. I seem to have experienced the same thing and it's either an ingrown hair or an acne like pimple. Leave it alone and it should go away. However mine hurt, so...

I am 23, and I have cervical dysplasia (one of the warning signs that appear before cervical cancer) so when I saw these spots (on the inside of my labia minora on the right side) I immediately thought it was HPV related. Usually the spots do not bother me, but sometimes they feel bumpier than usual, and more rarely they become extremely itchy. After visits to my clinic's nurse, my family doctor, and my GYN, I've heard several different theories on what they are, all reassuring me that they are not warts or related to an STI.
The sexual health nurse at my clinic thought it was contact dermatitis. She said I've probably become allergic to a detergent, softener, or something else that I was using and to make sure I'm wearing loose cotton underwear, to not use panty liners, and try handwashing and hanging my panties using an environmentally friendly scentless detergent. Initially it made no difference, but after over a month, this worked to stop the itching, but the bumps did not go away. I was also taking antihistamines (orally) for the first two weeks because the itching had become unbearable. The antihistamines stopped the itching 90%.
During this very itchy time, I visited my family doctor (at my clinic, after seeing a nurse at walk-in, they want you to show up to a booked appointment with your family doctor to follow-up). She looked and said there's nothing alarming (whatever that means to her), but since I have a GYN assigned, to go to her and see what she thinks. I have a pretty depressed, dismissive family doctor.
Off I went to my gynecologist.... *sigh* I was pretty worn down at this point. My boyfriend came with me to make sure I was okay and to gather some information on what to do if my GYN thought they were warts... She applied some vinegar solution and stared at my crotch with a magnifying glass for a good 2 minutes (and so did her student!).. She kept pulling and tugging saying "they are soo small!".. and concluded that these were sebaceous cysts (See also: sebaceous gland, fordyce's spot). Honestly, this makes a lot of sense as I already know that my body over-produces sebum; I have been battling with oily skin and acne for many years. When I fall off my exfoliating and cleansing regimen, my face and back fills with cystic acne. Unfortunately, my gyn did not tell me how to deal with the sebaceous cysts. Since the labia is such a sensitive area, the only treatment I can think of is hot water baths. I haven't yet done this for a considerable amount of time to comment on the results, but: Water above a certain temperature dissolves sebum, which may urge the yellowish substance to exit the body. (This is why it's recommended people with acne wash with HOT water).
I suppose if my idea does not work, the next step is visiting the dermatologist as this problem seems more skin related than anything else.
What I am wondering is, all of you who are experiencing this, how many of you have oily skin or acne? I would like to know if there is a strong correlation.
I'd also like to clear some misinformation that some people's guesses may have resulted in. These things we are talking about are NOT pearly papules. Pearly papules are usually clear and PEARLY.. they seem to hang a little bit out of the skin instead of being inside and appearing bumpy.. and they are extremely tiny!! I have those as well, in a different spot, which I am told are completely normal. I am sure many people have them but do not notice them because they have not gone poking and looking around as we have.

Thank GOD for this post! I, too, have been freaking out. I'm an older female who has been sexually active, but have kept up with my health. I do have one condition already that I carefully manage and I was mortified that I'd have something else (like warts)! I'm starting a new relationship now and he is quite skittish about STD's (which is a good thing--unless it ends the intimacy altogether). As much info as possible is a good thing. That way we all don't freak out, feel alone, or throw caution to the wind and put ourselves at others at risk. Honesty and knowledge are key. One thing I'll say is that for the ladies with large labia minora, things do become bumpier with age (I know: yuck!) so if it happens that one day you inspect yourself at 40 and go, "c**p!", just breathe and check with a good, sensitive doctor.
By the way, isn't it insane that when something odd comes up with our female anatomy we have to depend on each other to figure it out? And people get fed up with feminism! Thank you, Internet!
