I had been wondering the same thing since puberty. I thought maybe it was HPV, but I'd had them even before I was sexually active. I asked a couple of my gynecologists during normal visits, and neither of them were even competent enough to see what I was talking about (they kept looking at the labia majora, and when I pointed this out, they kept telling me that I was wrong). One of these doctors said "they're just hair follicles!" Which is not at all what they are. Sorry, that wasn't very informative, but I had to rant a little about it.

EVENTUALLY, on my own, I discovered that they are very benign, very common fordyce spots. They can appear on other parts of the body too, such as your lips.

One strange thing that I found: Clotrimazole and Betamethasone cream reduced the appearance of the spots. At least it did for me. But know that they're harmless and that you shouldn't worry about them.

I'm 19 and I just discovered the same thing! I can really only see them when I stretch the skin out. They are small and white ...like they look like weird cells. I thought it might have been herpes but they.don't itch or anything. These posts made me.feel soooo much better!

Theyre called forcyde spots and are perfectly harmless, theyre just sebaceus glands that help moisten the vagina. Look up forcyde spots vulva and see if any of the pics match what u see. I too discovered these whiteish small dots that for some reason i think were always there but i never realised that when yoi stretch the labia out you can see so many of them. Apparantly its normal... I will be going to the clinic to check it out tho.

“Fordyce spots” These are small white or yellow lumps, 1-3mm in diameter on the labia minora. They are painless. They are slightly enlarged sebaceous(oil) glands, completely harmless. They often become more easily seen at puberty and with pregnancy and hormone treatment. They can occur on the penis in men too, but are not transmitted from person to person. You can find them in the lining of your mouth. They are a normal variant, and it is not known why they are more prominent in some people than others.

I am 13 and I have noticed it since puberty as well but it's only noticeable when stretched and the top of the labia is a purplish brown colour and my mum said every comes in all different  shapes and sizes and I'm too embarrassed to show it to her... but maybe when I show her this page she will see a doctor for me. Thank you x

I have the same thing. Every since before I was sexually active. My gyn said that it is calcium buildup and it's not anything to worry about.

I'm 15 and I have this problem, my labia ks big, and pink and purple around the edges and when you stretch it out it's got these yellow-white spots in the skin. I noticed them about a year or two ago (they were probably there way before) and nothing bad has happened to me or anyone so far so I think it's safe to say that this is a natural thing and nothing to fear :)
