My 10 year old daughter had similar symptoms which included: dizziness, stomach ache, small headache, occasionally a small fever, but oddly enough an increase in appetite. No backache.
We suspected gluten intolerance but can't verify it 100%.

IS there a chance that this might in fact be some kind of food poisoning or a virus? If it happened only once, that those really are very common symptoms of food poisoning (which could be from something very simple that you simply couldn't have known that kid is allergic to, or the food simply was off - not uncommon at all when it comes to common sweets like ice-cream). Of course, if the stomach virus was the cause, there are very big chances that the rest of your family would have picked it up, too and the symptoms would be more or less the same. But, it's a completely different situation if these symptoms happen over and over. In that case, there really is need for seeing the doctor and going through all available tests you can get.
