I cannot believe the doctors are performing Novasure without you or your partner not having a sterile procedure. I had Novasure/tubal ligation on August 22, 2008. The only way the doctor's in this practice would perform this procedure is if me or my spouse was sterile. I wanted the tubal ligation, so I did both at the same time. My physician told me up front that becoming pregnant after Novasure or any other type of ablation procedure is very dangerous, so I cannot believe there are doctors out there that are not relaying this information.

hi, if anyone out there knows anything about pregnancy after ablation, i need help!! my husband and i after 11 yrs were having problems and when i brought up the fact that i may want to have another baby if him and i didn't stay together and i met someone else, he told me we would work it out no matter what so i went ahead with the ablation. the day after my surgery, he told me that it was over, that he just didn't want me to have babies with anyone else. i have two beautiful kids and thank god everyday for them, but i now have a new man in my life who doesn't have any kids of his old and we would love to have a child together. my periods never stopped, they only lightened a bit, i still go 2-3days and i am hoping that this is a good sign?? i'm 30 and if we can want to have one soon, i knew the risks however but i feel like the choice was taken away, can anyone help? i'm desperate

Hi, I've had the same prosedure done Aug. 07. I contacted my obgyn concerning pregnancy and was told without a period, I would not be able to become pregnant. How long after your ablation did you have a period? For the past 5 months I've been experiancing bad cramps and pain in my legs. These were symptoms I experianced during a normal period. I'd like to become pregnant but I'm afraid. What do you think?

I'm sorry you all feel so desperate and feel you need to abort. I had the ablasion 5 years ago and just had a miscarriage at 16 weeks. They were the best 16 weeks of our lives....seriously! We have 3 beautiful daughters that are teenagers and we were all very involved in the process even the girls coming with us to the ultrasound appt's. We knew the risks and wouldn't let anything or anyone take that love and excitement away from us. We had Hope (our baby for 16 weeks) and it was our biggest joy. We were sad and dissapointed that this happened but we had to try and I believe Hope would have wanted us to move forward with love, gratitude and grace. We will try again and enjoy every second of the possibility to bring this baby to term. There has been successful births after an ablasion and we are hopeful we will be one of those people and if not we are thankful for the chance (to even get pregnant). I wish you all the love and grace to be strong and hopeful.

Ok, let me get this straight. First I'm sorry that you ladies have lost your babies. But what did the dr tell you when you wanted to get ablation? Did he not inform you that this is NOT a form of birth control? Did he not tell you the risks of becoming pregnant after this procedure? Did he not tell you to use an alternative method of bc? Did he not tell you, you could become pregnant and the risks it involved? If you're almost 40 (I'm 41), you've had 5 kids and did want more kids, didn't he tell you this was not the procedure to have and if you did what could happen? What is wrong with this picture? I cannot believe in this day and time that your drs didn't give you all this info. Patient responsibility has to play a factor here. I have one son, 22, all we wanted. I had Essure procedure one year ago so I wouldn't have to worry about becoming pregnant. Have had terrible, heavy periods all my life and ablation was an alternative after trying all other thereapies. I KNEW that I wasn't going to have any more children, our decision. I just don't understand why the risk was taken by you all to get pregnant after having ablation without considering birth control and/or sterilization. Maybe I'm not getting something here.

Ok, I hadn't checked this website in a long time, for some reason just checked. This last posting completely ticked me off. I had an ablation several years ago. My doctor informed me the fact I wouldn't be able to carry if ever becoming pregnant and to make sure I was done having children. I was also told that I needed to be on a back up contreceptive IF I CONTINUED TO HAVE REGULAR PERIODS. I HAD NOT HAD A PERIOD IN 3 YEARS, and found out I was pregnant. I don't believe every case is clear cut and that someone can be that judgemental and pointing blame. I find it very hard to believe that someone would intentionally conceive knowing the odds and chances. I was also told that if an egg ever was to become fertilized I would probably never know because the body would abort very quickly. Not every doctor and every study say the exact same thing and not every case is clear cut. Even the doctors were completely shocked because I was prepped for surgery, they thought a cyst or tubal in er BECAUSE I HAD RECEIVED THE ABLATION. Only when they did an ultrasound to see what they were dealing with did anyone believe I was pregnant.

I'm trippin that regardless of what your doctor did or did not say, y'all couldn't do any research beforehand. I understand your in a rough spot with what decision to make but I did all my research up front and know the risks. I had my ablation while I was under for a tubal ligation amongst other things. All over the Internet it warns u that u need to be done havin kids before you have this procedure!

I had mine done over 5 years ago. My Dr. asked me if I wanted anymore children and i told him that i did not think that I was finished. I was bleeding so bad that they wanted me to have a hystorectomy and that my blood cells were bad that I needed a blood transfusion. Because of the fact that i was unsure that I wanted children or not but the possibility was still there my dr. suggested the fact that an ablastion would be the best root to go. Now I am positive that I want to have at least one more. I am wondering if this is possible. I had no time for the research as for the fact that I was bleeding so bad I was looking gray and was rushed to the hospital. Where do I turn for the answers? My doc just tells me that if I am experiencing a period again there is a chance but is not telling me that it is not a good idea. Is there a good book that i can read about all of this or a great website so I know my risks and options? I really want another baby

Common Sense 101 ladies: A lack of a period DOES NOT mean a lack of fertility. Egg release has nothing to do with your uterine lining. I understand that doctors have to go through the trial and error phase with all new procedures and information was scarce so the women who went through this a few years ago, weren't properly educated; but now, there's no excuse for ignorance. There are numerous websites dedicated to ablation information and why it's so very important to do whatever you can to avoid future pregnancies. All women should know how their reproductive system works. The ablation removes the uterine lining, not your ovaries. Your eggs come from your ovaries. Your ovaries haven't been touched, so unless you had a tubal, they are still releasing eggs despite the removal of your lining. If you are having unprotected sex, you can still fertilize the egg. If there are some cells of the lining in tact, your fertilized egg can attach itself thus impregnating you. The chances of this happening depend on the method used for the ablation and time since the procedure because linings can grow back. If this does happen, the outcome is usually bad. There are serious life threatening complications involved. You need to: A) Research it and read, read, read what experts have to say (spoiler alert!- expect to see the words "reliable birth control measures must be used" "extremely dangerous" "emergency hysterectomy" "hemmorhage" and "abnormal placental adherence") and then B) Consult a qualified physician (preferably one that isn't a m***n). Your baby's life, your uterus and your own life are at risk. If you don't feel like you got the information you wanted/needed, then get a second opinion.

My daughter is 9 weeks and they recommend abortion which makes me so sad. Her iron is low, they said they do not know if her uterus will stretch, if she will have heavy bleeding and so on. they say the pregnancey usually terminates at 24 weeks her placenta has already detached some and she is afraid of retardation, and so on if the baby is not getting enough oxygen. Please pray for her to keep her baby and let God decide.
