My 4 year old had a T&A one week ago. He cannot tolerate the pain meds so we are getting by with Tylenol. He appears to have major ear pain, with significant drainage. He insists that it is ear wax but it is very dark in color, dried in puddling out around one ear. His ENT did do a "vacuum" of the ears, but never made mention about excessive drainage. Is this normal?

After reading what you have post I was relieved to find someone who has similar problems as my sister. Her kid has absolutely the same symptoms as yours and we were following the doctor’s advice to increase fluid intake and to use pain medication, as prescribed and to avoid heavy or rough play for certain amount of time. And now we are worried and when we tried to reach our doctor and surgeon they have informed us that both of them are on vacation since it is almost Christmas time.
