4 year old with sore & red nipples

My 8 yr old daughter just came back from school complaining of burning pain on her left nipple. I thought it could be a bug bite so I applied OTC Cortizone ointment on it. She was wearing a brand new shirt with some embelishments on it so I thought that may be part of the culprit and had her change into a cotton tshirt instead. She also had a couple of more little red bumps near but not on her nipple. She says she feels much better now so I'm guessing it could be a sensitivity to the material of the new shirt or as someone pointed out new Easter dresses. For the rest of the week we'll be wearing cotton shirts and see how it develops.

My daughter gets red swore nipples from a combination of things which I had to investigate and find out by myself. They are combined heavy activity in in-laws chlorine pool and agitation from suit rubbing float jumping and not washing off right after. Hope this helps but i found instead of lotion my 4 year old likes powder and if really tender find smallest either trianing bra n i put A piece of her cousin cut baby diaper n put over her nipple until there not so tender only material soft enough i could find that she liked. I just noticed that my 13 months old daughter's one aerola has doubled in size or that's it's red around the areola and dry, rashy type feel. I haven't noticed it bother her at all, but it was very shocking to see after her bath.

My daughter is 8 1/2 and has same problem. I started puberty at age 11. Menstruated at 12. And that was the norm back in the early 80's! Kids today, fed a steady diet of hormone injected meat, are starting earlier. I'm not saying this to upset you, I don't like it either, just to ease your mind that's more than likely it's not cancer. Got a 6yo boy with one bright red sore nipple. As I understand from this thread, this is probably an instance of nipple eczema. We did go for a swim on Easter 5 days ago.

I wonder if you find out what was going on with you 4 yr old. My son has same problem. his pediatrician said it is ok. as a mother I think it is not. it is red and itchy.

Same here my son just turned 5 and both nipples are like that, I thought it was maybe sunburn or maybe a bee sting but it's weird that it would be on both. I haven't seen any images on goggle on this. Have you found anything since?
