I had the procedure in 2012. No weight gain no period no spotting just a beautiful outcome thus far

Make sure to add on severe abdominal bloating and incontinence to that list.
I am a 38 year old, 17 year gymnastics veteran, coach and avid hiker & rock climber that loves intense yoga after a hard day with my 3 kids. Even while pregnant, my metabolism wouldn't let me gain weight and after 3 kids I was still able to maintain my well worked on 6 pack abs. UNTIL after my ablation which I clearly did not do enough research on.
I am now 6 months post ablation and though my weight sits solidly at 125 lbs~~ I have a stomach that looks 8 months pregnant. Not only do severe cramps come with the bloating but 2 weeks ago I was sent to a Urologist because at 38 years old, I peed on myself. Results confirmed that the ablation hindered the muscles on the outside of my bladder leaving my body useless when it comes to "clenching or tightening" to hold the urine in. So, I no longer have irritating heavy flow periods....what I do have is the joy of telling people "no, I'm not pregnant tho I did just pee a little on myself."
My advice for those lucky enough to read this thread BEFORE your ablation..... cancel your appointment! It's not worth it.

I had the Novasure ablation procedure last May due to heavy periods that made me become anemic and I end up having a blood transfusion right before my procedure, but so far I haven't had a period since the procedure which is good. The only downside is like you my bladder is a bit more weak. I have gained weight, I feel like I am always bloated. It is weird because my legs at times feel smaller but my belly never shrinks..ugh... Oh well, while I am grateful for a solution to the heavy periods the other things I was never made aware of to be honest. I do say research more options to other women considering it.

I have used protein shakes and bars as well as keeping myself busy in between so I don't get bored-hungry. I gained about 20 pounds after, but I didn't regret having the procedure at all because I have horrible migraines with my horrible periods. Now, after almost a year and a half, I just started my period again. So disappointed.....

I had my ablation in June; slowed my periods, then, this month, so far, nothing but the moodiness, headaches, find it hard to hold my urine, and hot flashes… I have read on other blogs that the ablation sometimes takes a few months to take effect? Also having the back pain and pelvic pain usually accompanies my period… I know PMS symptoms usually remain as hormones remain, but boy, I can do without all this! Maybe the start of menopause…? I’m 46-

I am sitting here in tears reading similar stories. Novosure was going to be my new ticket for freedom. I can't have children and yet my ovaries and uterus plagued me since 14 years old I'm now 38 and after stamping my feet I finally got my first ever gyn appointment. I demanded a solution to help my periods. They gave me noristhisterone to regulate. Since the mirena coil didn't want to stay in my body any more after major weight loss. so I bled for 1 week but it was still horrific. Novosure was going to give me my life back. I had the procedure it was vile. I leaked for 2 weeks. Loosing liquid like a burn victim would. Then it began. Vile smelling blood. So I've been loosing blood now for 10 days with no goal in sight. I'm getting extremely upset all the time and feel like giving up. I genuinely don't know what to do any more. I've been diagnosed with osteo arthritis in my hands and wrists I already have degenerative disccdisease Im so tired of fighting. I'm 38 not 58. I just want to be me not my illnesses. I force myself to go to work but end up so exhausted from over doing things. I can't win

Thanks Ladies for all the input!!!! I too think I may steer clear of the ablation procedure after just doing some minor skimming/reading through all of your posts. My GYN offered me a mini pill to take and it is on it's way in the mail. I think I will just stick with that for awhile and see if things work out with that. Thanks again Ladies!!!!

Hi. I just got an ablation with a lot of pressure from my doctor. I did all my research after and seriously regret it. From what I have researched in 25% of woman ovlation does not go well. The monthly cramps are from scar tissue preventing menes from flowing through. Etc. I am sorry you are going through this. I also had a heart attack from my OB not taking my symptoms serious. See a specialist that specialises on uterine oblations gone wrong not just an OB. They don't have enough experience. Good luck!

I had the NovaSure ablation and my life ROCKS now. Sounds like a lot of bad experiences here. No periods, no weight gain, no hormonal disruptions. Previously I was going through ultra sized tampons every hour. I wonder why there is such a range in outcomes. To anyone considering it, this seems to be an exceptionally negative outcome thread which doesn't represent the majority, I would guess (based on other women I know personally who have had it done with positive results.)
