My daughter, who will be 9 in a few weeks just started her period today!  I was in shock.   Although her breasts started to develop almost a year ago.  I am a little freaked out but talked to her about it and explained it all in a way that she would understand.  Of course, I didn't get into details about this is what allows women to have babies.....she's way too young for that information right now!  I'm glad she's not the only one who is going through this at such a young age.

Hey I know how you feel I'm actually 9 years and I have found some spotting as well I just looked this up so I know what it means and how to fix it know I just know I'm going thorought a change like she said if she didn't have breast buds you should go check that out , I have breast buds totally normal you don't have to have breast buds to be going through a change I know that now because at this very moment I'm on my period good luck :) -jalia

I'm 37 years old. I started my proud at age 10½. I'd still shocking to me that my 10 yr old daughter is spotting blood also. She had a large amount of blood at age 9 for 2 days then nothing. I did take her to the Dr at that time and it was a cyst. They're non invasive tests your pediatrician can do including a type of x-ray to see if this is in fact your daughters menstrual cycle. Best wishes.

My foster daughter was nine years old when she started menstruating. She showed very fest signs of puberty, but she was overweight. We took her to the doctor and they did hormonal testing which revealed no abnormalities. With a healthy diet, regular exercise, and a stable home life, our foster daughter lost weight and stopped menstruating until she turned twelve.
