I've never known anything like this before. It started with a tiny tear/scratch just inside my clitoris hood on the sensitive fine skin.Like the skin had broken. I don't know how it happened, I think it may have been from an uncomfortable seam inside clothing combined with cycling. It was rather like the tear I may have had between my toes on occasions, like athletes foot, which has always cleared up without any medications.
So, it began with this tiny tear in the fine skin and now something has happened whereby it looks like a white fungus has started growing...and what had. been fine delicate red skin has now become white and rough, rather like what happens to skin when you have been in the bath too long.
There is no pain or irritation, just this roughness and change in the skin quality. I keep thinking I can just wash and the rough whitened skin will come away and underneath will be new fine skin, but no...it seems to have taken over!
To top it all there's an unpleasant odour to it, which won't go away however much I wash. I'm a really clean person and don't know how it's happened or what has caused it. Is it possible to have a type of Athletes Foot in this intimate area? If so, how can I treat it...?? I'm really bothered about what to do!!!!
thanks!!

I found this site because I was having the same problem. They say it's normal, it's jus trying to cleanse it's self.

Hi, If this bothers you and won't go away you might need to visit a doctor to rule out infection. If you have yeast the best way to rid yourself of it is to apply plain yogurt, actually I buy Bio-k at the health food store. I inject it internally and then I put it on my vulva and clitoris. It works but I also don't heat sugar and other yeast feeding foods. I do this for 2 weeks, slowly tappering off. Good luck. Laura
i am having the same problem...can u update?
Hi, I know your post is over a year old, so I don't know if you are still having this problem :)
I had exactly the same problem, so I want to my doctor and she told me it was a kind of fungus/yeast infection. It probably spreads from the vagina (Candida). She prescribed me an anti-fungus vaginal cream. I had to apply it for at least 10 days. After 10 days my vaginal fungus was gone, but the one on my clithood wasn't. So I went back and she prescribed me a anti-fungus creme WITH corticosteroids. And now, after 10 days it is FINALLY gone! :-D
So, if you are still having this problem, you know what to do :)

Well, by now you probably don't have it anymore, but if you still do, I'm guessing Lichen Sclerosis, however it shouldn't smell or produce anything. If the skin itself is white, then it's most likely LS, which is a virus, not a fungus. It's something that attacks mucous membranes and turns them white. Most of the patches occur in the genital region. No one knows what causes it---some say auto-immune. It may be a result of the HPV virus, but is basically harmless, and is non-contagious at this point. However, it should be checked every six months just to make sure it hasn't developed into something else.
So does it leave by itself eventually? I'd really like to know
It sounds like you had/have lichen sclerosis if it responded to steroid cream and not antifungals.
