I have had these “stomachaches” for as long as I can remember. I’m 64. I had about a 10 yr period where I did not have one. But they are back with a vengeance. I have always had constipation issues. It got to a point that I would take laxatives every weekend to keep the stomachache’s away, it did help but I would still get one, rarely.
Several years ago a Gastroenterologist diagnosed me with IBS. He did my first colonoscopy. He said I had a very spastic colon, to the point of it being difficult to get it done.
My stomachaches don’t give me cold sweats, I am so hot I take all my clothes off & end up on the cold tile floor sweating so bad my hair is completely wet. I’m very pale & feel terrible for several hours after. They are more frequent now as well.
I haven’t been back to a Gastroenterologist in many years but when you explain them to any Dr I feel as if I’m being ignored even when trying to explain how painful along with all the other symptoms. It’s very frustrating.
Unfortunately my son also suffers with these but luckily my daughter never has.
I would love to know what causes them & how to prevent them.

Yep also a member of this club. First time it happened it was probably 10, drank some orange juice and had an episode. Then when I was 15 took a neurofen and went to bed, felt dizzy and fell down the stairs on the way to the bathroom (parents still think I was on drugs). It’s probably happening once a year, sometimes more sometimes less. It happened last night, woke up with abdominal cramps, went to bathroom sat on toilet felt dizzy and loud ringing in ears. I knew from experience to lie down, felt like I was going to die crazy sweats, was moaning then I passed out. Came to and had sh*t in the floor :( I feel for you all, it’s scary and embarrassing and there seems to be no real answers.

I’ve had this a few times and it has coincided every time strawberries have been added to foods, which I am careful to avoid, my last incident was yesterday when I was assured a chocolate torte had raspberries not strawberries, a few hours later, I feel very uncomfortable, bloated and full, went to sleep for a few hours then woke up feeling rough, nausea, going hot and cold, sweating & and feeling like am going to pass out, feels like all my colour has drained from my body, I normally have a good large bowel motion not distorted and start to feel a little better, like I’ve got the poison out, I will then lay down on the cold tile floor which is cooling, I have never tested for an allergy but do wonder if this how my body reacts to strawberries.

I am also a member of this club. I check similar boxes:

Pain, Sweating, Passing out, 20 min then all good, Has happened for 15+ years since I was a teenager. 1-4 times per year, some years less, some more.

Not in the middle of the night though, usually its in the morning after I wake up and have breakfast. Ive always had a bad stomach. As a kid i would drink loads of coke-cola and have strong gas moments. Then I went into a gatorade phase, which also came with a different stomach pain. Recently drank a lot of coffee but quit for 4 months. Now drinking black tea. I had an 'episode' today.

I wonder if I have ulcers or something similar. Never been to a doctor. Will look into diverticulitis, IBS, and intolerance.

By any chance did you guys have bad eating habbits as kids? Too much cola? That stuff probably eats away our intestines. I am a vegetarian now but still eat fried stuff now and then.

another club member. had my worst episode a few days ago. felt a bit constipated in the morning, went out for a walk but my lower stomach started hurting and I had to sit down on a stone wall. managed to walk back leaning on my friend. starting seeing stars, somehow made it up two floors to the bathroom. didn't turn on lights, needed the dark. tried to sit on toilet but nothing and pain too intense, laid on cold bathroom floor as usual, hot sweat, clothes off, cold sweat. I was up and down trying to get out the demon but couldn't quite sit on toilet, so much pain, curled up on floor, thought I would die. my friend tried to check on me and open the door but I couldn't move. so much pain all I could do was try to breathe, it felt like I would die from the pain. I remember being on my knees butt up head down and puddles of sweat dripping off my wrist onto the floor. I think I got up and down to the toilet a few times, I don't know if I pooped in the up and downs. eventually felt good enough to get onto the toilet, loose half diahreaa as I saw later. my boyfriend kept trying to take me to the ER but I couldn't move. I don't think I could talk. if think I just said I can't move. he called paramedics but when he was waiting outside I was trying to tell to him that I was going to make it. the paramedics said I had low blood pressure and body temp 34.5 degrees. we went to the hospital but after eight hours of no attention I decided to come home. I know from past times that when it's over, it's over. I haven't been diagnosed with anything but I guess I should try to get it figured out.
thanks to all for sharing their experiences.

I just had this happen. I did consume a lot of coffee and cannabis that day. At least in my case I think it played a role.

It sounds like a low potassium and your blood pressure is dropping causing you to feel like you’re gonna pass out or to pass out.

This has been happening to me for about 5 years typically around twice a year. I get a sudden sharp pain in the abdomen followed by 20-30 minutes of severe vomiting and diarrhoea. In this time i go shivery, sweat profusely, pale and my extremities begin to turn blue (i do have Raynaud's so that could be the cause of that). I feel super faint and dizzy and just not all there whilst this is happening, Most of the time i then blackout - on some occasions i have blacked out repeatedly and lost control of my bladder. The strange thing is within about 1 hour of it ending i'm otherwise fine other than feeling very fatigued. Every time i have sought medical attention, my bloods all come back clear, no sign of hypotension, slight tachycardia but ECG normal (though i'm guessing that could be due to dehydration from V + D) and often told that i'm "probably just having some anxiety" despite not suffering with my MH and these happening at various times in my life. I have tried to find patterns and triggers but there is none. I feel like i'm at a bit of a dead end, but concerned as i live alone and don't want to injure myself when i blackout. It's reassuring to hear i'm not alone in this.

Strawberries and red onion - it’s the colour which is the problem, the chemical make up of it. Also watch out for plum sauce (or any other processed food) which may have had the particular red colouring added to it. Cooked strawberries and cooked red onion won't be a problem as the cooking process affects it. White strawberries also won’t be a problem. Some people say that the variety of strawberry matters, with (broadly speaking) British strawberries being ok, and Spanish strawberries being a problem. Experiment if you dare.
