Hi, I am a guest on this site right now. I have been doing research and ended up on this forum so I thought I'd explain my story and see if I can get some input.
I am considering endometrial ablation (novasure) and hoping it will work for me. I am 31 years old and have had endometriosis since a teen (although I wasn't diagnosed via lap until 2004). I was on the pill nonstop w/o a period which seemed to work for me until I went off it at age 25 to have my first baby. Thankfully no fertility problems here! I gave birth to my third (and last) baby October 2012 and am wondering what I should do. I have always tossed around the idea of getting a hysterectomy anyway and then during my 2nd pregnancy I got a DVT in my leg and therefore my dr told me I shouldn't go on the pill ever again...which means either end it permanently or suffer. I thought I had more time to think over what I would do because I am still nursing and with my other babies it was close to a year before the dreaded period came back.
Well..this past weekend she reared her ugly head and my baby is only 5 months old. And it's a doozy. Intense cramping, bloating and heavier than ever before. My mom just had the ablation done last week (she is 54) and while we don't yet know if it will work, her recovery has been great. Got me thinking maybe I should look into it. We know for sure we aren't having any more children (hubby got snipped in December) so I seem like a good candidate. Even if for some reason it doesn't work for me I would be willing to try it. What do you think?
Another reason for wanting it done is not only the Endo, but I have IBS and extreme Interstitial Cystitis (bladder disease) and pelvic floor dysfunction. These are pains that I already have to deal with on a daily basis, so when my period comes it flares them all up plus I get horrid cramps on top of it! I would like to avoid a hysterectomy for as long as possible as I don't want to do all the hormonal stuff that comes with it. I need help!
